The Scoreboard is the best feature they added

“My teammates are trash! Time to be toxic to them!”

“Oh, wait, my number of deaths is way higher than theirs! And my damage is way lower than the other team’s! It’s ME who is trash! It’s a good thing I had the scoreboard to show me the light and facts and context instead of just screaming about medals like in OW1!”

I’ve had fewer complaints about lower healing, that’s for sure. I think there was one game where someone moaned about low healing, and all I needed to say was “check out the scoreboard”.

i love to use ‘’ bruh im literally the best healer on this match why you complained ? ‘’

Please, be more respecful for blizzard. That’s why Overwatch 1 changed the name to Overwatch 2, cuz they’ve added a scoreboard.

They will always delete/nerf everything what brings joy.
And bring something what is as useful as their team.

I’m not sure if this is sarcasm, but I fully expect the new scoreboards to create more toxicity within matches once people get settled into the new game.

Years ago, I played Paladins and they had a full scoreboard (shown at the end), which basically always resulted in everyone flaming the person(s) with the worst stats.

Even last night, I had a game where my tank criticized our Ana’s healing numbers for being lower than the enemy teams. Of course, he also failed to notice that our team had higher damage numbers (meaning we simply had less to heal than the other supports). And these sorts of numbers also don’t account for things like positioning or teamwork.

Personally, I do like having access to more information, but I definitely don’t expect this to make players more aware or smart about the context of those numbers.

a while back DPS were complaining about me and the other healer being so bad and we had very high healing lol and he left the game because of the scoreboard :sunglasses:

Honestly I dont feel like it’s added any value other than realizing that tanks just do more damage on average than damage heroes (showing how stupidly broken they are). Otherwise it’s kind of just harder to glean the important data (like ults and enemy hero swaps) at a glance.

The scoreboard is there for a reason and it’s incredibly useful . You can use the stats of everyone to know if you need to switch up your gameplay or help a teammate who’s having trouble or focus someone who’s clearly carrying. Also it’s nice to tell whiny dps and tank mains that, according to the scoreboard, they had more healing than the other team.

My only complaint would be that it’s not easily legible, like at a quick glance certain things aren’t as noticeable as they should be.

Blizzard was right in OW1, scoreboard is mostly irelevant, most dmg are healed
It just charge ult

Kill count is, but evryone get the kill if you touch (hello moira orb) so you cant really compare.

With 10 sec respawn kill are less important than other competitive FPS
I mean u have to kill
But get 3 kill as widow to take a point with only 600 dmg (3hs) is more effective than 4 kill with 1000 while u push a payload…

Add to that ultimate, some can make insane amount of dmg with or without kill if defensive counter.

scoreboard is great but can be improved. i think one benefit everyone didn’t realize was that most of the time the mouthy idiot complain about his team, was usually the problem. Now they see the scoreboard and they clam up.

listen toxicity isnt going away but now if you do get called ou, you dont have to wonder “am i the problem” you have to scoreboard to help you gauge your contribution.

THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE WAS SAYING FOR YEARS

It was just absolutely dumb to cater for the fearmongers who tried to gaslight everyone who was for the scoreboard, even if those who were for it knew that it was going to reduce toxicity because it clears up the game and gives everyone a better idea of what’s going on and how someone is doing. You can’t call the condescending carry garbage anymore because it’ll be in everyone’s face that if you do it you’re just a cringe liar. Similarly you can see the heals actually in there so supports won’t get called out for not healing as much. All of these things that you had to play mental gymnastics with your teammates to get them to understand are just available there. There’s still some of that still left, but most of it is just gone

And do you know who takes the L on this (and rightfully so)? Those bad players who needed this type of mental gymnastics to desperately scratch any kind of plausible deniability to “protect” themselves from the reality when their teammates start calling them out on it

This is also why everyone is switching now. It is completely embarrassing to play Widow with 5 deaths and nothing on the board so they just switch, where as before they could reassure themselves to keep on doing it and use said mental gymnastics as a shield for it. Crushing that toxicity is the best thing they’ve done to the game

the scoreboard is awful. it’s so hard to read. half the time i cant tell what my team comp is or what the enemy team comp is because the death timer obscures the hero’s portrait. and even when everyone is alive, it’s hard to tell who they’re playing because the hero icons are so small and OW2 “updated” all the hero icons so they look exactly the same. In OW1 I’d press TAB to see the team comps but in OW2 it’s such a chore to do

da hell are you talking about. i have different keybinds but there is another button to lookup lineup

I love the scoreboard, but I think it could be even better.

I have had quite a few games where I was thinking “what the hell is X player doing?”, then would look at the board to see that while one stat was low, another was very high, like Mit. It’s easy for certain heroes like D.Va to vary in their contributions. Sometimes she uses DM well and has high Mit with low damage/elims and sometimes she has high damage/elims because she’s getting picks.

I wish the scoreboard had a weighted total value in some way, and I think time on the objective was a good stat to have.

Like, elims could be worth that percentage of damage x5. So if you have 12 elims, 2 deaths, and 3,000 damage, your elims add 1500 to your weighted score, which is these values combined with Mit and Healing.

Idk. It’s silly but would also be a convenient number to quickly reference mid-game.

Agreed. If we’re losing I can check to see what might be the issue. “Oh the enemy sojourn has more damage than my entire team combined. Really it’s nobody fault they’re just popping off”. Or if my support has a ton of deaths maybe they need more peel and help.

If I feel like I’m lacking as dps and the stats show that I’m having a hard time it might time to try a different hero.

Maybe I’m just not able to do on echo and I have a ton of deaths. If I’m playing tank it can give me an idea of maybe I’m turbo feeding and my supports aren’t able to dps because they’re having to spam heals, or better yet, the enemy team has just super high damage so maybe playing junkerqueen is not a good idea and sigma will be better etc.

i feel like no matter what blizzard will have to weigh different stats differently. And it’ll encourage playstyle that maximize those numbers regardless of if that’s optimal.

Also I feel like heroes like sigma who do immense amounts of damage and also high elims and high mitigation with his shield will just trounce other tanks. Like most matches I have just as much damage or more than the enemy jq or doomfist with similar elims or more because primary fire is kind of a spam tool with a light Aoe, and shield mitigates a lot more than jq ever can.

It wouldn’t be truly accurate or anything, but just useful to reference mid game.

Less info or more, doesn’t matter, the “I got gold, so I’m carrying” jerkoffs will never go away. There’s no remedy to it. More info is always better, those people will always misconstrue it no matter how much or little there is.

It’s satisfying as hell when you’re the top player, but it’s still irritating when a player has the nerve to say “report [playername]”.

Groups are the worst, though. It doesn’t matter how well you do because in the end, they’ll always view you as the issue (despite the fact that Mercy is barely healing and Reinhardt is standing being Soujourn).

and it only took them 6+ years to add it!

No the best feature in OW2 are those tiny pieces of garbage we get to dangle off our weapons. I called my mom the first time i got one and she told me how proud of me she was

I love when the enemy helps you out. Like our guy said “gg we had trash supports” and the enemy support went “they outhealed both of us idiot. Spend less time failing to flank us maybe.”
