The sad truth about tanks

Not at all. If you get steamrolled in a game that’s because the players didn’t work as a team, which happens a lot in those levels of play, it has nothing to do with any role in particular.

Everyone from what I saw was doing their part other than the tanks!

You obviously haven’t been following this thread.

In this thread it is always Reinhardt is toooo stronk and needs to be nerfed along with all the other tanks who were nerfed.

Nerf all tanks to the same level of obscurity and we will have achieved balance.

This thread says differently.

Nerf all tanks or I lose because shields are too strong and no one on my team ever has one.

You are welcome to believe whatever you want, but as long as you look for excuses in that level of play, you won’t get better and you won’t rank up. If you think you are losing your games because the tanks specifically are not “doing their work” specially at that level, sorry but that ain’t it.

Everyone in the team has to do their part, a team of 6 good players is going to beat a team of 4 good players and 2 decent players

Ok then, good luck in your games.

Thank you and you too!

I think the bigger issue is that you need tanks who know when to attack and who and when to fall back. There are too many tanks who think they job is to eat bullets for 3-4s and expect the rest of the team to kill half the enemy team in that time.

Honestly I’d rather pair Winston with Wrecking Ball than Dva myself. I’ve had better luck with those two than with Winston/Dva.

Not in my experience. Sombra does make Wrecking Ball straight up useless. That is true. I’ve played around Mei successfully more times than I’ve been hard countered by Mei. Mei can counter Wrecking Ball if she’s played really well and sticks with her team, which then sticks together; start splitting up or getting distracted and I can successfully play Ball into that Mei. Mei’s short range really hurts her as a counter. Reaper, I honestly don’t have that much trouble with as Ball unless someone else is there to reliably stun you against him every time.

Unpopular opinion: Rein/Zarya makes tanks useless not their “underpowered state”. I thought for a long time Orissa and Sigma were garbage but after this week of the Zarya ban I realize now they’re pretty decent. (Orissa and Sigma could use some small buffs but nothing big)

you said you are a roadhog main, guess this means your thread is bunk b.c you are the very problem you are upset about. how about you pick a shield tank and main that and quit crying?

The sad truth about tanks is that they all suck, except for Rein.

I do play shield tank, I said that I’m a Hog main so I didn’t look like I was complaining about others not going shield tank despite not actually playing tank myself

Orissa can very easily defend her team not to mention if you have good aim she can melt squishy characters in seconds.

I honestly think a good Orissacadds way more value to the team then a good Rein.

Here’s my thoughts: one needs to be turned into a proper offtank, and one needs to be pushed completely into the main tank role.

The offtank should be Orisa, since she sacrifices team protection for self-sustain and better peel which Sigma trades off for a better barrier and an ult with similar teamwiping power to Shatter. Change my mind.

Tell that to DPS mains who queque up as tank just for placements and more golden gun points, as they pick Hog or Hammond and dive 1v6 “making space”…

Also, why are “fun” and “winning” mutually exclusive? I don’t get this argument when I play QP and my tanks keep charging forward, die and leave the rest of the team unprotected and when I ask to maybe not do that I get: “just QP”. Why to some winning not equate fun? I’m not even gonna ask you to switch (unless you pick something like Hog into Mei and Reaper), but at least move the payoad with your team, please.

Obviously you can have both but comp is for those who want to win and have fun or just win!
