The Report System Change In Season 7 Is Too Strict

There was a hidden patch to the reporting system that happened at the beginning of season 7. However, I can tell that it has become more strict is what it deems inappropriate text/voice chat. Many users are receiving warning / silences due to the strict system. I myself included, but this post is not to complain about my personal silence. Since I have been silenced, I have reported everything that may be even slightly inappropriate and have received 12 “thank you” notices for reporting. This is in the span of 10 days. This is ridiculous. Most of the reports I dished out were not even warranting any punishment.

The lesson to learn from this is to not use text chat (even to defend yourself). The report system is currently broken and should be avoided as much as possible.

I just got off a 2 week silence and am just not using text chat ever again. I’ve spent way too much on this game over the past 7-8yrs for my account to eventually be closed due to over strict reporting system.

Sucks because the social aspect of this game is basically dead for good unless they reverse their current course.

inb4 people come here and start saying it’s all warranted and deserved and totally a perfect system and if you were falsely punished it’s totally possible to appeal the penalty.

Jokes aside, I think it was pretty surprising that they opted to disable chat by default from now on.

I’m sorry to hear. This is what I am worried about. The social aspect of the game is going to start dying with people afraid to use chat. TBF, I think it started dying after OW2 removed LFG.

I was too afraid to tell a Moira who was feeding their brains out to heal when I was the other support playing Kiriko and Baptiste like this was a match in Masters bruh and we still one but holy crap I was incredibly stressed and pushed to me limit because I was the only one healing everyone else.

Like the fact I’m too scared to tell a Moira to simply heal honestly says a lot of how broken the current system is.

This unfortunately means that there will be less interacting between players. I was a shot caller for an E-Sports team and I have since then always shot called in my games. This will no longer be the case because I’m too afraid to get my account perma banned.

I also shot-call sometimes and it feels so good when it works out. But yeah, not taking the chance anymore either. At least I can still do that in CS2 :relieved:

If you’re such a strong minded, thick-skinned, Capital-G Gamer, then why are you here whining about this? Shouldn’t you be able to easily take this on your mighty, perfectly chiseled, chad-chin?

edit: ssuuuuuuure… you tooooootallllyyyy did not mean your comment to be read as a complaint. You were merely stating a fact… unprompted.

I belieeeevvveeee you… /s

This would be a reportable offense that would most likely get you silenced. @MeowKami was just meaning that the report system is overtuned from my reading. Just to note, saying the ‘F’ word too many times has also silenced players. (This is just hearsay but I believe them with how strict the report system has become.)

Edit: MeowKami’s response is also a reportable offense that would most likely get him silenced as well.

Laughable statement. Bring it and report me.

edit:

aww… predictable coward move: Making overblown, unsubstantiated claims, then complaining about veering off-topic when getting their bluff called and having no actual counter-argument.

Clearly you don’t care about the original discussion.

I had that exact thing, and still got silenced within 5 hours because i played ball in quickplay and refused to swap. They told me ill report you if you dont swap. I didn’t swap. And i didnt even type anything or say anything myself.

I typed the w f word 15 times and got silenced for 2 weeks a while back.

That is incredibly concerning, how the hell do they expect people to drop money on this game when it’s so easy to false report someone with 0 repercussions?

Have you considered that may be the point?

I mean…Why would you need to blame somebody? Nobody queues up to play poorly and people know when they’re struggling especially in masters+. The last thing they need or want to hear is their teammate scapegoating them.

That’s not to say that I think you should be banned for politely asking for a heal but more explaining than the entire scapegoating culture in this game is long overdue a crackdown. It’s deeply toxic and clearly Blizzard have found from their polling etc that it’s making people quit.

I agree that scapegoating does hurt the community. This makes people anxious to play even QP. I just want the community to thrive. Asking for more healing, I feel, is not worthy of a silence. However, harassing someone on how they play would be worthy. It is a fine line but I think the line has been moved too far for the reporting system currently.

All I wanted to do was ask can they heal more? I ended the match with 24k heals and they only had 5k heals and 12k damage with 18 deaths with most of those being in the enemy team backline.

They were diamond and only got to it this season after being historically gold-plat so matchmaking is partly to blame I guess. Wasn’t going to say anything toxic because I keep those grievances to myself but asking maybe for them to turn down the tik tok Moira and focus on heals a little more could be seen as too much and I don’t feel like being reported for saying so.

Here’s why these discussions always devolve every time. You say something assuming you’re on one side of the line but the others assume you’re on the other.

Asking someone to follow a plan or maybe swap to fit the comp better should be completely fine as long as you’re polite/normal, and asking such things in other games aren’t actioned upon, but people assume you’re doing it in a harassing manner.

I’ve stopped trying to have these discussions since everyone just assumes you were being rude from the get-go.
