I don’t hate Brigette, but she can make it rough on old Reinhardt. But the biggest problem is he offers nothing to counter the direction the game has moved. Junkrat mines, Doomfist slams, Pharah/Lucio boops, Brigette bashes. All of these make a team behind a Rein pointless. Can we try this change for Reinhardt when the next PTR goes live?
*Crusader [Passive]: While Energy Shield is deployed Reinhardt is immune to knock-back effects and stuns (does not include Charge).
Basically Orisa’s Fortify when his shield is up. It makes Rein a counter for Brigette but also gives the big guy more utility and makes him interesting to play. You can protect your team without worrying about having your shield dropped. But you can’t charge your ult. Swing/Firestrike/Charge for ult charge, open yourself and your team to the CC out there. The game no longer becomes a Rein stun-fest but a shield break or outmaneuver game. Brake the shield or get behind it. Or rain death from afar with Pharah, Junkrat, and gasp new Hanzo. You see dive/deathball/bunker start to circle around each other based on map and objective.
Why not give it a try Blizzard. It’s what the PTR is for. Give it a chance.

My idea was that he wouldn’t be able to get cc’d more than once every x amount of seconds.
I agree he needs Knock back protection with his shield up b maybe not immunity but a 75% reduction is distance pushed back would be cool. This seems like a no brainer

Reinhardt is literally mandatory in CC meta right now…
Some things go beyond just what is “meta”. This is a change that should happen because it needs to happen. For this issue what is meta really isn’t important

So, why do we need to make the hero that you can barely win without even harder to win without?
Make the meta even more broken just to make him a bit more fun?
What I’ve actually been thinking is that Orisa’s fortify seems to be fit better into Rein’s kit than into her’s and funnily enough I think Reinhardt’s charge seems to fit Orisa better because that’s the kind of ability I’d expect on someone with four legs.
Hell, I think Orisa’s ult should be more like having a team mate mounting her with a gatling gun and having Orisa get a speed boost or some other mobility.
His issue with knock backs and cc with his shield up transcends what is meta or not. Meta will change. Brigette is being batted around with a nerf bat like she bats around everyone with her flail. Rein will be prominent in the meta then not again. But him being a huge and easy cc target when he puts his shield up that is basically a come knock me back sign is something that is long overdue for a buff whether he is meta or not. That shouldn’t determine this specific issue.

I’m good with a 75% reduction to knock-back as well. Would probably be more balanced.
Please add this, I don’t understand why this giant german man who wears armor constructed by german engineering can be knocked back or stunned by a girl and her mace.

The problem I have with this is it only addresses half of the problem, which is now what were getting into with yet another CC in the game. (Not Brigittes fault, just an issue with how CC’s are designed.)
Chain CC’s, it can happen to Rein, it can happen to Orisa (after foritfy), and everyone else on the roster.
We’re coming to a point where it needs to be addressed for everyone with Diminishing Returns.
For those of you who don’t know what DR’s are:
The more you use a CC on a particular player, the less effective it becomes. This would solve the problem as displayed in Calvin’s Video getting stunned and batted around like a dodgeball for 20 seconds straight.
To make this work properly, they would of course need to categorize CC’s such as:
- Stuns
Flashbang, Shield Bash, Hook, etc. (Sleep might be classified as a stun, I think of it more as a status effect. Which could get it’s own category after we get more of those types of CC.)
- Snares
Junkrat Traps, “something else that isn’t coming to mind”, etc.
- Displacements
Boop, Concussive Blast, etc. (I wouldn’t even mind if these weren’t placed on a DR.)
At most, there would need to be two separate DR’s for Snares and Stuns so one doesn’t affect the other. It’d be kind of stupid for it to effect a Flashbang or a Shield Bash, after being trapped in a Junkrat trap.
You might ask “but Mr. Kent, what problem does this solve?”
My answer: People will need to now properly plan & time their stuns. If they rely on them too much, the person could temporarily become immune to stuns. Which as you guessed in turn could cause a problem, if you are trying to interrupt an ult with a stun.
But that would be the point of this whole thing, use your stuns too often, pay the price. This means we wouldn’t have to worry about CD’s too much. It could bring McCree’s FB CD down a hare since if he uses on the same target too much, it becomes useless. It would add some “skill” to those who are deemed “No Aim = No Brain” Heroes that everyone seems to like to complain about.
