You know, when I regard the enemy DPS as useless non-threats and the tanks as the only real competition, maybe there’s a problem.
I disagree, DPS competed far better in the past and high skill heroes were viable and meta.
Also the MOBA heroes typically require less gamesense and positioning because they crutch on overpowered abilities/health pools.
Why play an FPS Moba if it becomes too much like an FPS?
Maybe go play CS:GO if twitch skills are all that you value, instead of, say, not being in melee range of that tank
I do feel what the OP is saying, I also feel that I went into another game as the succesive updates felt like killing the game in matters of aim or skill, now you will only probably be winning a meta if they fail to predict you, but if not you are likely to die instantly in an attemp of skill of 0.4s before the enemy gains again that advantage as if it was a moba game, I personally dislike the way how it is played now, even if it hasn’t changed much, it has been just benefiting more of a role game too much and even if the community know it was “not totally an fps game” they/we feel betrayed. That’s why I preferably keep from ranked games so I can enjoy that other type of game there are in quick play, Don’t understand me? just look how the OWL in its current state is being so boring to watch, “people” like me are claiming for the game to go in other direction
Look, just because you can’t aim isn’t an excuse to leave game balance disasterously off.
But if you really want a MOBA, how about we give the DPS functional health pools and worthwhile abilities?
Well, lets be technical.
Drifting a corner is actually faster for that corner, but the slow down comes in the exit due having to regain traction to the wheels to re-accelerate.
In racing you are not accelerating or decelerating when you hit corners because you want to have every bit of traction to be directed on the g-forces trying to slide you out of the corner to hold the maximum speed. Therefore you try to hit a line that allows you to hold the highest avg speed through the entire entry, corner, and exit speed.
Drifting cheats that line and allows a faster speed through the corner, but its lost by the time you regain traction for acceleration and reorient.
Everyone can aim, just some of us realize that is only one part of OW. There are options for those of you who do no get that
If the game had been marketed as a pure shooter I definitely wouldn’t be playing it and I’ve played basically nonstop since 2016.
For the 09450239845023954683406th time:
Elements of a MOBA:
- Lanes
- Jungle
- Minions
- Towers
- Elite Mobs
- Base Crystal to destroy
- Item shop
Elements present in Overwatch: Literally exactly specifically ZERO
Cherry pick harder lol
That still doesn’t mean that it was marketed as a pure FPS. Sure there are FPS ASPECTS, but that doesn’t instantly mean that it was marketed based on said aspects.
Blizzard released it, for crying out loud. Think about that for a second.
Also, those heroes aren’t the only ones that get instalocked… So that point is completely void. Also note that Genji is nothing like a traditional FPS character. If you came to this game thinking that it was an FPS, Genji wouldn’t really be the hero to pick.
?? What
Seriously, just because some people like playing characters that have guns doesn’t mean that the game was marketed as an FPS. Who hurt you?
Come back when you have actual evidence of the game being marketed as more of an FPS than a MOBA.
Honestly the moment you seen a Tank like Reinhardt with Hammer and Fireball, you got to expect a different experience than general FPS mechanics.
that’s true too, but i personally don’t feel like any hero has threatened OW like that.
with ultimates like BOB, Spirit Dragon and Dragonblade, the game would still have that MOBA feel.
Widowmaker and Hanzo are probably the only heroes in the game who can force OW to that level and the latter is mostly due to the fact that Hanzo is basically hitscan now.
are there not flanking routes? do pros not say MIDMIDMIDMID? are there not turrets? BOBs? Objectives to cap?
You also neglected to mention CC, a big part of MOBA play.
I don’t understand why players don’t like MOBA elements, when they make decisions and say “okay lets go left, or lets go right, lets go main” you are going through specific lanes, just doesn’t have minions and towers.
It was never marketed as such. It was released with Reinhardt, whose only ranged weapon is Firestrike.
Pharah is definitely not a traditional FPS either, along with Mercy, Symmetra, Genji and arguably the entire cast.
If you feel hoodwinked or bait/switched, fine you are entitled to your feelings. But please don’t claim Overwatch was advertised/marketed/promoted as anything other then what it is. A bunch scientists, oddities, soldiers, and everything in between fighting to save/control the world.
DPS still does fine. Your example is during an ult. MOBA heroes are fine. Time to move on now.
Look, I don’t really reject the part of OW where we have ability based heroes. I just reject the part where they’re so much better than the skill based ones.
Then there are other games. That is what OW is. Heroes have abilities. Other games have characters with just a gun if that is your thing
Look, I don’t really reject the part of OW where we have ability based heroes. I just reject the part where they’re so much better than the skill based ones.
They really aren’t, skill players just on average aren’t as good as they think they are.
