I always wondered why it was a common joke that bastion dies during his ult and now i figured out that its mainly because people aren’t using it for the right situations. If you’re in turret mode or just got out of turret mode its bad to just use your ult and run at everyone. But while playing bastion myself in a comp game, i managed to win the game by using bastion’s ult as a safe way to ENTER combat rather than using it like you’re going to go in and get a team kill. The thing is, the ult has a slight intimidation factor. and the oneshot to squishes really helps prevent bastion from getting picked off before he can reenter combat. Although you CAN still use it like its soldier’s ult or something like that where you just rush into battle like you’re invincible, I think it’s much more effective for entering combat and possibly picking off a squishy or dealing massive damage to barriers while you go in. I used this strategy multiple times and it worked so i highly recommend trying it out.
I thought the common joke was that Bastion dies when he goes into sentry mode
his ult doesn’t do massive damage to barrier at all. Hell, it doesn’t do massive damage period.

I remember shooting a doomfist that got the jump on me, right in the face and he didnt die and actually he killed me. I was wondering what the damage output was so i checked and couldn’t believe how bad it is actually… like, i’m more afraid of something like pharmercy than an ulting bastion…
Given all the CC and defensive abilities in the game, bastion’s ult is just as pathetic as Soldier76’s ult… too many things can block his rockets and the damage just isn’t there…
well, with this i wasnt talking about how effective soldier’s ult actually is but rather the mentality of players when they use the ult, how, usually they will fearlessly run in even though they can be shut down instantly.
2 questions about bastions ult mode,
- what is his movement speed while in it?
- where is his headhitbox (if he does have it while in it)?
i don’t play much bastion and i rarely take notice of how his ult actually works that much and he’s a pretty rare sight.

I’m not sure which ult is worst in terms of getting you killed:
Barrage…whole hog…or tank configuration
now i just imagine every time bastion dies in a game it has this large text appears on screen saying “BASTION HAS PERISHED” and loud deep voice reads it out loud and this choir starts singing and its so loud that its all you can hear for the entirety of bastion’s respawn time.
In my opinion- it has to be Pharah’s Barrage.

How the hell did you die to a doomfist, in any form bastion can melt doom. Did you forget about your self heal or something? Bastion’s ult isn’t supposed to be shield break, you need to target healers with it, since they can all be one shot. and cc is honestly pretty bad against bastion besides sleep, he has 300 health with 100 of that being armour, so he can survive most cc alive. If you are doing nothing with his ult then you need to get better with rocket jumping and your aim
My Bastion waits and listens before using ult. Depending on the enemy team comp, Bastion listens for used abilities that may stop him. No hook, no flash bang, and most important…NO SLEEP DART. Other factors like Dva should be removed before he ults.
