Quite honestly, they’re all garbage. Wit the role of a support being to keep your team alive, none of them do anything to counter enemy damage ults that can erase your team in a second. Does Zen’s ult protect against a high noon or a riptire? No. Can Mercy save her time from mine field? No. Can Lucio’s sound wave save his team from D.Va’s ult? NO!
Most of the time, you’re just using your ult to make a big push hoping the enemy team doesn’t shut you down with one of their more powerful ults. I think support ults need to really be looked at to have more counter-ability to the plethora of tank and damage insta-wipes.
Look man, heroes have their own niches. You don’t use blade to stun somebody. You dont use earthshatter to fly. You dont use grav to absorb the light from your screen. Instead, you use blade to bait out ults, clean up or try to get 1 or 2 picks. You use earthshatter to stun the other team or scare them. You use grav to set up a combo or stop something like a nano blade. You use Trans to stop Death Blossom and Nano Blade. You use sound barrier to give you more time to escape from high noon, initiate a push or counter a dragonblade. You use Valkyrie to reach hard to reach places.
Dont be so negative, support ults have ruined many peoples’ days too.
really? your problem with zen ult is that he doesn’t counter 3 ultimates in the whole game? awesome… you can easily destroy the riptire… almost every dps can do that… minefield? it takes a couple of secs before they activate your team can pull back you don’t have to press W all the time… when hanzo ults you can move out right? you can do this too with minefield… high noon? really can’t counter that? this is the problem with this game… ppl cant position, cant use their brain… ohh is there a widow? hmm should I use the walls for cover? maybe get out of her sights? maybe counter him cause in this game there are lot of options? hmm… NOO SHE IS OP NERF HER… 80% of player OW base is like this… pathetic… limit and restrict everything cause kiddos like that… go 222 yeee awesome idea… way lass carry potential than before cause “this is a team game”… nice teams below master/diamond yea
I’ll state examples of counters, then you stop complaining.
Zen counters Shatter, Grav, Blade, Barrage, Bob, Molten core, EMP, Death Blossom, Gravitic Flux, Mine field, Bastion in general, and much much more.
Lucio counters Blade, Death Blossom, EMP, Earthshatter, Molten core, Gravitic flux, Grav, another sound barrier, AND he soft counters deadeye and self destruct.
Mercy’s ult doesnt really counter because it is purely utility.
Not everything has to be able to counter, but 2/3 things you stated counter a LOT of things.
Keyword Good. I rarely see anyone under Masters who can consistently shoot Mercy down, even at Masters, unless you have some decent Widow or Mccree on your team.
If Mercy is dying in Valk its really her own fault most of the time.
Well, there’s a couple of different ults:
Defensive ults: Beat drop and transcendence, these are used reactively. So yes, a lucio beat CAN save you from a dva nuke (they do it in OWL all the time). Trans saves you from shatter/grav.
Offensive ults: Used before a fight to gain a slight edge. Coalescence, rally, Valkyrie, amp matrix
Nano: Nano is normally used as an offensive ult, but since it has good burst heals, it’s KIND OF a defensive ult, but only for one person
To think support ults do nothing, you must be really low rank and just not know much about OW strategy, or just have never played on a team with any semblance of coordination. Hell, the defensive ults are some of the best ults in the GAME.
