All the new F2P players will be thrown into Gold just like all new players are thrown into Gold when they first start Overwatch 1. Gold is the biggest part of the playerbase, and this method of placing everyone in Gold to start is going to ruin the Gold rank player’s games at launch of Overwatch 2.
Just reset MMR for everyone so everyone is on an even playing field. It isn’t fair Gold has to face to brunt of poor game/match quality.
They already said why they wont do this. It would put gms and bronze in the same games for a while and they would rather have the issue you described than that
Solution: Put new players in silver.
Putting them in gold is totally not industry standard, most games place them lower at the start.
i guess there will be a huge imbalance anyways no matter how you look at it. reset… imbalance. dont reset then midranks will be real imbalanced since new comers

actually like 90 percent of total players are mid ranks…
maybe they should start people in bronze now?

So instead of having poor match from some people who don’t belong in Gold being placed in Gold (I always thought all placements put you in mid Plat but meh) your solution is to make it even worse by having even more people who don’t belong in Gold playing in Gold.
I wish people who wanted a reset could at least be honest and say that they think they are better than they are and with another shot could totally place higher.
