The part of Rivals that has me intrigued

is how much it mirrors OW history given that its basically the same game.

as in how long before the complaints begin about balance, matchmaking, cheaters, throwing, smurfing, monetization…do they end up with a “brig/mauga” (my vote goes with silver surfer whenever that happens)…does the inevitable esports “ruin” that game…do they get enough tank players…

and then of course, how much goalpost moving and/or hoops are jumped through to make the claim that that game is so much better than OW

cause i can guarantee you that things that were considered cons for OW will be listed as pros for rivals…especially from some OW players

I’ll be playing healers mostly on MR.

I haven’t played the game at all, or even followed it all that much, but I vaguely remember people talking about how Hela was busted in the beta. So it’s already begun, really. (And predictably. People are people.)

Do they have a Zarya character? Someone in a thread long since dead recommended Rocket to me because of my Bap icon so I might try him out if I install the game. He’s got the ol’ Supercharger ult if nothing else, that much I remember.

You da real MVP. Thank you, senpai! Without you, there is no Mahvel. You walk so that I can infinitely leap into their backline. Arigatou.

One thing marvel rivals has right over ow from the start is making supports actually impactful and able to hold their own in a fight against any other hero

In the beta I was able to win a lot of duels vs dps and even tanks by myself. The same cannot be said for ow1 where supports were basically just forced into healbots until ow2, and ever since ow2 its impossible to win a duel as a support vs a tank. 0 chance.

Supports actually output respectable lethality and arent just all about healing. They have some insane utility at their disposal. Mantis sleep, luna freeze, rocket rez, loki invis and teleport. Meaning if you are good at support you can clutch kill and thus fights by yourself. A level of player agency ow2 is extremely lacking

Magneto, though he’s not as fun imo, but yeah he has bubbles that work almost identically to Zarya’s

Magento is the closest just because they have a bubble and an ultimate that punishes people for firing their weapon. But it sucks though because if they shoot too much, I guess it just doesn’t work anymore.

:muscle: :joy:

Rocket has that assault rifle (it’s full auto projectile, though) that can fire bouncing heal nades, vertical mobility, and a little revival drone. So, yeah, he is definitely Baptiste-lite.

I cant recall, but was Ultron in the beta? If not, I’ll be stoked when he releases

It’s so good and it’s half price right now as well so it’s the best time to try out cloud gaming on Geforce now!

Crazy to think that they have the perfect oportunity to fix many of OW mistakes yet they are lauching the game with a ridiculous amount of Dps heroes and barely any Healers :expressionless:

Mag-friggin’-neto? Awwwwww yeah! With him and Rocket, I got real lucky with my MR representation, then! If I play it.

I guess I assumed that Magneto would be Sigma. So… is Dr. Strange going to be Sigma? Or is he more of, like, a Sym?

Nah, he is a leaked character. Allegedly we were supposed to have him for launch, but we got Iron Fist instead. He will probably be a season one DLC.

Rivals support roster is goated though, Playing Rocket Racoon was one of the most enjoyable Support games i had, solid healing, lots of damage, and being able to duel was well… refreshing

also the fact that there was no role queue in the beta testing with well designed supports it did not feel like you were forced into playing a support because they have the ability to duel and do damage you are less hesitant.

Magento is more Sigma than Zarya, admittedly. He has a barrier, but it is more similar to a defense matrix on cooldown. His ultimate is a giant rock that he throws after hovering like Sigma. His primary fire is the same but with magnetism instead of gravity (lol). He is Sigma with bubbles.

Dr. Strange does have the teleport as Symmetra does, but he plays more like ranged Reinhardt.

This is the one I’m looking forward to laughing about. It’ll be even funnier if it’s by people who have been on OW since day 1 and just don’t remember how the game evolved and why.

Just imagine if they do ACTUAL pay to win tactics…:radioactive: :bomb:

All of the heroes will be free, but apparently they will still be having weird seasonal team ups that will likely push the new heroes regardless.
