The OverDrive experience

Oh boy what a fun first day of overwatch overdrive. I went from plat 1 to plat 3 almost 4 so let me know how yalls first day went.

I can’t add a link to show the whole class, but I went 4 and 17, and after a 9-loss streak, I get a win, which in return I get expected with only 18%. I can’t begin to explain the many emotions I went through seeing that.

Now I’m off to get myself admitted to a mental asylum after this lovely experience  tootles.

EDIT: i forgot to say that im with a duo the whole time and im constantly going against 4 or 5 stacks and lose all of them but once we go against a duo or Treo we win. smh

update as of 8/23/25 i am now gold 1 what a wonderful world we live in.

There’s a reason why oeople call drives a “failure”. And why a lot of people just don’t take part by avoiding comp modes.

The rewards will only last until the end of next season anyway before they’re just removed.

Man, I get fomo with the title because it’s cool to me, but idk if it’s worth playing comp for 8 hours a day and having a losing streak. I literally hit my peak for all roles (plat 1) and now I don’t have it lol all because I wanted a little stupid title.

Yeah I’m about to hit plat 5. I win 1 or 2 games then lose 10. Obviously that definitely means I’m at fault, but also I never lose this badly if I’m playing normally. Like ever.

I can’t wait for group finder to be added too, because solo-queueing is an actual Hell

The comp points are worth it though. The win rewards you get are so little, and it would take literal years if people don’t do drives to save up, because they took away the placement rank rewards (stupid idea).

But drives are so insanely hard. I’ve seen people already with maxxed out borders and a V in them and I just think… how the f. Because I would love to know. I’ve never ever been able to get past the second checkpoint. It’s a nightmare.

Frankly I think it’s the same ol comp with just more people playing.

Been having a solid time rolling Freja/brig, just playing the game.

I don’t understand the notion that comp is somehow different during drives. Just a higher population

I’ve already got my first aid kit for Drives.

Spotify playlist? Check. Featuring a tonne of stress relieving (and ultra aggressive tracks) by bands such as Pantera along with happier music from Faith No More and Placebo.

Junk food? Check

Copious amounts of alcohol for when tanking? Check. Can’t beat a good old fashioned Snakebite and Black (UK alcoholic beverage-half cider, half lager with Blackcurrant cordial). Blows your head off for a very cheap price  KEKW (christ help you next day though)

I don’t normally do drives-especially as a solo Q’er-but I need to finish my BP-can’t leave it unfinished with 8 tiers left. Too triggering lol

Are they?
I’ve played for 9+ years and i think i’ve ever only accumulated around 300 points or something (i don’t play comp)
You don’t really need them for anything, especially now that there’s the “current” and “legacy” points. And at one point you couldn’t even use both kinds together to unlock stuff.

The weapon skins bug every once in a while or get locked or removed by the devs occationally by accident.
Sounds like more trouble than they’re worth in my opinion XD

Never felt the urge to own any of them…

Gold shiny galactic pretty…

Good enough for me

That sounds like a solid strat. I just switched to stadium since I don’t play it and don’t care what rank I’m at. Plus you don’t lose points in rookie

imma about to smash some drinks down then eat some pizza and HOPEFULLY this time i wont be losing 10 games in a row.

I won all my games (just 4 so far). We have a reset next season, so it’s not so bad if you drop in rank.

Me either. All my friends are in Diamond and Masters and don’t want to wide queue, so I don’t get the group bonus.

drives for me is just a relaxing week long break from the game

I think it is, but I’m the type to collect things, especially for my favourite characters! So it does differ between each person I suppose

It certainly does.
Try to stay sane through the drives then, good luck.

yeah uh, dont duo if you arnt a giga duo that can carry against stacks.

solo’s for life because its easier and less painful. if you are in a group, even with just 1 person you open yourself up to playing against these massive stacks.

You get drive points in Stadium, too, as long as you’re already ranked in Competitive for that role. So if you are unranked on tank you will not get drive points in Stadium.

Plat? Bby I’m all the way in gold now, down from plat. Duo/Solo queue in this game is dead. I’m convinced rank isn’t skill until top 500. It’s just being lucky enough to have friends that are good at different roles or being lucky to get players who don’t play like its deathmatch call of duty and team mates don’t exist.

Its sad how painful they make this for solo/duo players now. Only hope for climbing is a 5 stack. We need exclusive matches for duo/solo players at this point. At least in that regard, I wont feel bad for losing. Cause getting rolled by a 5 stack, just feel extra bad. Like a hate crime. lol

People who didnt calibrate at the beginning of the season shouldn’t be allowed to queue or gain any drive points.

The amount of level 1 endorsed players- 5000 hours of QP with negative win rate trying competitive 5 hours every 3-4 months fot the shiny badged hurts the game more than anything else.

This is pretty much my thought process. It’s a good opportunity to earn points towards weapon variants, that’s the main motivator.
