So I pick a hero. Find out my opponent RNG picked heroes that counter me but I can no longer swap in a game about rock, paper, scissors.
… What is with that!?
This whole gameplay concept baffles the hell out of me…

Just outplay them bro, maybe you will learn and see how awesome it feels when you outplay your counters.
I shouldn’t have to outplay my opponents in a scenario where my opponent has the upper hand in every fight.
I’ve played since OW1 beta and I cover every single hero in the game. I know how they work and know what counters them and almost always swap to deal with that.
I’m no pro but I have enough common sense to know when a hero isn’t working.
Being locked into a specific hero is just insane…
This game isnt rock paper scissor. Until you realize this, will you continue to be frustrated.
This is not a 1v1 game. its a team based game. They support eachother.
If you continuously switched just to counter, youve been doing it all wrong and hurting yourself more than anything. less ults etc for example.
Good playrs are actually have a main they play and almost always are “one tricks” they elarn how to deal with situations.
That is literally what “outplay means” when they seem to have the upper hand, you outplay them to win.
Bro I have played this game since beta too. I used to swap like crazy in order to win my games, highest I got doing that was masters. then I stopped caring, I started playing the heroes I enjoyed and started learning how to outplay my counters. I created new and crazy ways to play the heroes I play. I started doing things and taking flanks that certain heroes would never think of doing. My unorthodox play styles started to eventually take effect and before I knew it, I made GM/top 500.
I stayed in top 500 for years until OW2 came out, Ive made top 500 once and then stayed in GM for multiple seasons. Ive come to learn that if there is a will, there is a way. Change your playstyle a bit, try doing things you normally wouldn’t do and watch how much fun you will have. Ive seen junk one trick players take down pharmercy all on their own in top 500. Ive seen symmetra players pull some crazy plays using her teleporter in order to flank a widow that thought she was safe. The crazier the play, the more fun you are gonna have. The mode is also not competitive so its not like it matters. Just have fun with it
It’s just badly made, to be honest. Overwatch is built around switching it’s like driving a car without the brake, reverse, and half the steering wheel. D.Va is given favourtism by being the strongest in the basegame already, now has a pull on her ult? Meanwhile Pharah get’s 3 tiny rockets on her jump or slow flight on her ult so you can die while moving at a snails pace.
Cool.
Also cool.
I enjoy ‘almost’ all heroes.
So whats the problem? Just play and gave fun! The day you start taking down pharah mercy without a hitscan is when you are gonna record that and remember it. Trust me bro, counter swapping is overrated.
That day will not come because I will not play a match where I’m putting my team at an intentional disadvantage to satisfy some "This is how you beat all heroes with this hero " mentality.
rock paper scissors is how the game has been since day one.
If my opponent is winston. I’m reaper.
If my opponent is dva. I’m zarya.
etc…
Saying that you can outplay your counters means more when you can rather than have to
You shouldn’t have to outplay your counters in a game where you only get to be one character at a time. This ain’t pokemon where you can have counters to your counters in your back pocket
That’s exactly what OW2 is … Rock … Paper … Scissors …
Nah, because D.va is paper and Zarya is rock, but D.va also has mobility that Zarya can’t contest and is one of the only durect counters to Zarya’s ultimate so D.va is also scissors
It’s like how Venusaur counters Blastoise right? Except Blastoise can learn ice beam and blow Venusaur away if it’s not careful
There’s nuance to this stuff
I think the mode is awesome. There’s lots of room to spec into whatever strengths you need to counter something you wouldn’t normally be able to. Like Pharah counters Soldier now if she gets a couple of the self-sustain buffs from movement abilities. It just takes some build experimentation.
honestly the buffs/changes just go way too far.
Pickable Passives was ok because they weren’t that strong and everyone of a role had the same ones to pick. Mirrorwatch was ok because while the changes were big, they stayed the same.
This just sucks. I have no clue what most heroes are now capable of and it can change every round. I get some MOBAs are like this but I don’t like MOBAs either lol
yes… yes you should… thats literally how outplaying works…
Not only that, but they through Reaper into a roster that is dominantly poke characters.
Truly the peak of Blizzard competency.
