Heyo! o/
Imo, Ramattra, the leader of the Null Sector, really seems to set up the stage for what’s to come in the future ow lore. Props to the devs for that.
The hero design itself seems really unique and unlike any other existing hero. Sure you have D.Va that can “transform”, but Ramattra’s transformation feels on a whole another level.
Putting the fact that you need to grind 55bp levels which is a huge let down, it was a nice reveal. Even though I don’t support this greedy monetisation, I felt like I needed to give credit where credit is due, that is to the people who designed and conveyed Ramattra. Good job!
And to all the forumers, what do you think of the hero?

Well, we did get a bunch of information about his kit from loads of articles around.

I agree that the reveal itself felt like it was stingy in that “btw here is an expensive statue go buy it”. For me I see that as their greedy side coming out, but trying to see it on the positive side, the hero does seem cool at least imo.
I also think it’s nice to leave an open canvas for the time being and watch the community theorise on what he can do.

It’s the opposite.
I played this game through the birth of my niece, spent evenings in teamspeak with friends playing the game and coping over the passing of my dad. I loved Overwatch and it was a great companion during very emotional years of my life.
However, this isn’t Overwatch anymore.
This is some corporate scam, the game I loved and cared for died when the OW1 servers were shut down for no logical reason but corporate greed and predatory monetization.
I know, you linked images last night and I am very thankful for that, well the side of me that still is interested in the game is.
However, they had a huge opportunity to show something positive and live up to the artificial hype they created, instead they let us down, again, by providing a lackluster “reveal” bundled with a sale show for that
overpriced toy statue.

There are some gameplay screenshots. It’s still a month away, of course they aren’t going to do a full reveal. They wouldn’t have revealed anything this early if it weren’t for the OWL finals.

It’s the first OW2 hero that I’ve been glad to see.
I was really disappointed with the first 3 heroes we got. Ramattra is much closer to a true OW hero. He’s visually unique and fills an interesting role in the roster as a counterpart to Zenyatta.
From a character standpoint, Sojourn doesn’t bring anything to the table that isn’t already covered by Soldier, Reaper, and Ana. Junker Queen feels like a minor side character from Junkrat’s backstory wandered into the roster. And Kiriko is the third Japanese ninja with a strong traditionalist theme, which I find really lazy and boring.
Ramattra, on the other hand, feels like an actual new hero. He’s already a much clearer contrast to Zenyatta than Kiriko is to Hanzo or Genji, or Junker Queen is to Junkrat or Roadhog, or Sojourn is to all the old OW members.
I also strongly prefer the weirder heroes in the game. Give me more freaks in OW, the more the better. One of the most disappointing things about the first 3 OW2 heroes is that they were all regular humans, in a world with super intelligent animals and centaur robots.
Frankly, if Junker Queen had been replaced with Ramattra at launch, I would have been way kinder to OW2 at the start and more optimistic about its future. Those first three heroes had me truly worried about the creativity of the OW team, if they even had anything left in the tank. I’m a little less skeptical after seeing Ramattra.

I guess its development of some form because before we had nothing like literally nothing.
I completely agree on all of that. Kiriko has a nice kit imo but damn does she feel generic af. Idk, it just sounded like “Yo I’m badass” and the Japanese music in the menu theme didn’t really do any favours lmao. Doesn’t sound “Overwatch” to me
Is he a step forward? Does he add anything new?
Ramattra’s been around in the lore for years, as has the omnic crisis. So far the only thing Blizzard has done so far is say “hey, remember that time we had a story?”
He is really cool though. Leaders of slave revolts are totally my type <3
Yeah he is an old character, but I’m glad that they aren’t just adding random new heroes and at least this one makes a little more sense on why it was added. And it also kindaaaa answers some questions like now it makes more sense why he and Doomfist spoke and overall it’s just nice knowing who the leader of Null Sector is
