Oh my God…that makes so much sense and is horrifying. Because tanks are quitting harder then dps or support right now because we are reduced to passive meatshields.
Like tanks got hit the hardest and yet we got dps and support being vocal about how they need to think under pressure or suddenly need to play as teammates in a team game.
My personal solution to GOATS was similar to what they did in S9 with the healing nerf, but less splatty. In short, diminishing returns on healing while in combat that ensures combat won’t last forever or that any comp is “immortal”. But we’ve got a lazy implementation of that now on top of flex players being dead.
It’s not going to reduce their choices; it’s quite the opposite.
Not every tank is going to benefit equally from the blanket buffs that you’re wanting to give them (imbalance), like Ball For example, he’ll benefit way more from this passive than, say, Orisa, who already has a fair number of ways of dealing with the CC.
That isn’t how that works, if you make tanks wait longer dps has to wait longer can queue times are based on the defientcy of a role…
2 ways to fix matchmaking is to either remove role queue and tightening the range of of mmr player can match with which would lower queue time in response
Or just tighten range of mmr range for match which will increase queue time, look how long high rank player need to wait for some game… 1 of the reasons i don’t care about climbing
Yeah, sure, this balancing philosophy would work just fine if the Overwatch developers had the microbalancing down, which is definitely the key to retaining a fine balance with this philosophy, but unfortunately, the developers haven’t done this.
For example, let’s say we implement this new passive you suggested for the tanks into the game right now. Do you honestly think the developers will fine-tune each individual tank so they’ll all benefit equally from the new passive?
I’m going to go ahead and say no; they wouldn’t do this. Why do I say this? It’s because we already know they’re incapable of doing this.
