The more I play OW Classic

Any non bronze bastion won’t be just sitting on a flat surface waiting to get charged. Hog is pretty much a must have.

Don’t be sad, this is exactly the kind of feed back they’re looking for :ok_hand:

This event is just one part of a series of tests as they try and work out the best way to reintroduce 6v6, that is, if the community deems it worth while.

Your feedback helps push the needle in a particular direction. Tell them exactly why you prefer this mode over the other, be as specific as you can, that’s what counts!

They’ve created a scenario where there will never be an optimal version of OW. It would be patched out to never be seen again even if they did somehow achieve it.

You’d think they’d figure out how to balance the main roster after all these years. At that point they should only have to properly tune each new hero addition.

It wasn’t just dumb luck. Other games tried to do what OW did and failed.
And of course old OW has gaping flaws compared to now - the thing about the benefit of hindsight, is that you don’t have it the start. But that’s what team 4 has been doing for a living for 8 years: ironing out flaws in Overwatch (with mixed success, depending on who you ask, but overall competently, imo, gameplay-wise).

Personally I don’t know how anyone can experience that Bastion transform speed and think “wow I wish I could keep playing this instead”, and that’s just one of many examples. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

The event could of been a lot better if they actually put in time to balance out the roster, the current roster is terrible, Snipers all the over the place and not having decent counters unless you get someone cracked or godlike at tracer or McCassidy

That’s what next seasons’ tests are for.

I’m fine with clear moments of vulnerability. Imo it’s not much different in concept from the delay before venture digs or shatter windup. Give’s people time to react.

Rein would seek danger :triumph::joy:

When rein got 550 hp one time in ow1 i used to seek and bestup up all these bastions and hogs that used to torture me.

They should balance around higher tiers of play to keep this game competitive. Balancing around players who don’t know how to play the game would be absolutely terrible for gameplay experience at every level.

My whole point is that they should not make the game competitive. They should make it fun.

Even in an unranked game, balancing heroes around better players is optimal.

Classic has been nothing but double widow and Cassidy, it’s a lil frustrating

I do wish these modes would stop disappearing. Because it’s unfortunate when players lose what they like. But classic is awful to me. So god don’t let it become popular.

The problem I have with this is that what’s broken for lower ranks is not broken for higher ranks and vice versa.

And the solution that I have for this is to … just let it go for the higher ranks. Yes, that’s it. Why? Because time taught us again and again: it’s impossible to make the game balanced for all tiers of play anyways, but balancing it around top players suck all the fun from everybody else.

In the end, we are forced to an “either/or” choice. Either tune it so that the game is fun and somewhat balanced for the 80%+ of players (aka the “plebs”) or try forcing it to be balanced around maybe 20% - likely much less (aka the “pros”). I’m proposing to keep OWC as a game mode that is done for fun - for the vast majority of players.

I’m not saying the experience of top players is irrelevant - not even close. But I recognize that it is again - impossible to have it working for everyone. And just as we do IRL when it comes to democracy = I reckon it’s better to make something that works best for the majority of players, especially when the “top tier” accounts for such a tiny fraction of all players.

Finally, since I’m not proposing it to be balanced in the first place - just fun - I don’t think competitive mode is ever needed for OWC if it is to stick around. And most of all - it just has to be a separate game mode, not “mainstream”. Let those who want to compete have their game - playable as a thing balanced around top-play, with all the checks and balances, with all the sweating. Let OWC be a “casual player escape” where you just play and have fun.

Same. I just cannot go back to playing OW2 after this. I don’t want to go back to flashpoint/clash/push, or hypermobile unkillable heroes, or raid boss tanks, or the support passive on everyone, or the highly rapid pacing… any of it at all.

At best I’ll log in to play Uno in custom mode and that’s it.

Even with how janky the balancing is here, OW Classic is fun. Overwatch 2 is not.

OWC has well defined roles – tanks take space, dps are lethal killers, and supports reverse the kills that dps do. The reason why OWC feels good for dps is because they are the strongest role that take cover minimally in OWC. Tanks and supports need to hide in cover and look systematically at how angles are cleared to do their thing.

I do the best of both worlds – I play my OWC S76 as a hybrid dps/support, and I dominate the chaos by playing at my range and committing to my position like any good tank main.

Its genuinely insane how fun and addictive old OW is, 8 years of changes just completely ruined it.

2016 had a lot of “press stun to win” but its better than everyone having massive bullets inflated hitboxes, nonsense mobility, and STILL having stun to win heroes.

I can’t stop playing because it’s fun vs I can’t stop playing because I need to complete my battle pass.

no. stacking leads to losses vs competent teams.

I just had an amazing game with my first competent Zarya that is not my Sistah Spice. It was so magical that I sort of want to call it quits for tonight and end on such a high note.
