The minimalist rank icons are awful

the readability of ranks on profiles is reduced in every way with these rank icons. the more detailed ones were so much easier to distinguish at a glance. the shape of the icons are in no way different enough to warrant a simple, flat design with just colours as the major distinguishing factor.

bli$$ard once again proving that they are NOT a user-friendly company and make random decisions based on the opinions of a handful of people in power rather than considering their playerbase and the individuals playing their games.

If this is an issue for you, you’re focusing on the wrong thing.

uh oh! shill alert! shill alert! sound the shill alarm!

I’m glad they changed it because you quite literally couldn’t distinguish GM1 from GM5. Like the number was so abysmally tiny that you had to squint and put your face in the screen to see it.

But idk why they changed the look of the actual rank icons themselves. Masters is now just like… lime green??

another flaw in their UI design, literally all they had to do was make that part of the profiles bigger but they decided to go all corporate minimalist on it and make it 10x worse

Instantly break down as soon as you meet resistance. You have to leave the echo chamber someday.

Your ā€œresistanceā€ is about as effective as tossing a teddy bear into a lion enclosure and expecting it to win.

I miss the ones from OW 1, the new ones did NOT grow on me and the new new ones wont either

Idk why they changed the rank icons just to give us those dumbed down labels. I liked the shiny icons. They should’ve had shiny new icons and just increased the size of the icon in career profile

You mean like we should be focusing on curing cancer or something? Or are we limiting this prioritization to Overwatch? If we are, I don’t see how UI design is not worth talking about. The UI is important and terrible.

Kinda funny how they were perfectly fine for 6-7 years, then they had to be changed for the sake of change. (and then another year to fix that change)

I hovered over them with my mouse multiple times, expecting a tooltip

The icon looks way better than the last one. Though i wished they reverted back to OW1 icons they looked great.

Glad i’m not the only one. I did this multiple times only to be disappointed. I don’t think it takes much time to add such details.

Man, I don’t care

Its just a rank, you don’t need to know what rank your enemies are, just what rank you are.

As an artist yeah, i prefer the old ones too, they were just better in design for me

OW2 ui has been garbo from the very start.

Is it so hard to design icons with being downscaled in mind?

OW team in a nutshell. Creating issues where there are none and then having to fix their own doing.

youre gonna get used to it. i think its now better bc you can read the divisions clearly. and the skilltier is colorcoded so you just have to memorize colors not symbols.

The colors are just as much grabo if not even worse with having a completely different hue.

I kinda like how masters is green now. Very easy to notice over it’s normal icon which looks like plat
