what a patch. some good, some bad. overall good patch though.
lets start,
Balance
balance is still all over the place. ever since s9 its been a complete mess. maybe even before that.
lots of good changes like a juno nerf and a slight hazard nerf.[imo he needs a little more]
and then there is the bad. winston buffs? why? he’s already really good.
the echo buffs have folded me in two.
on the one hand I’m glad her beam is finally adjusted to post s9, but that’s not good. because if we buff her beam to deal with tanks and 300 hp heroes then 250 and below heroes will suffer. s9 at its finest.
overall i think a s9 revert is the only fix to balance in ow2, it seems the devs would rather go further down the rabbit hole then admit they where wrong and revert.
max’s vault
we now have our very own night market. well good addition, cheaper skins are never bad.
min 1 max 3
FAILED.
yup that’s my stamp. if you liked goats back in the day, be prepared for supergoats. sure you cant 3-3 anymore like in the old days but with todays support and tank design its somehow even worse, 2-1-3 and 3-1-2 will be everywhere with s9 health changes mind you, nothing will ever die and nobody is gonna have fun. I’ve lived it before, only back then we didn’t have brig or kiri or bap or weaver etc. now we do this mode will be worse then double shields ever was mark my words.
also shame on the devteam for running it on the exact same patch as the last test.
they certainly couldn’t predict that it was 2-2-2 keeping that mode semi balanced.
how hard is it to have some knowledge on the game after 8 years, i could’ve predicted this would happen 3 years ago. guys step it up.
ow classic moth
is the saving grace for me this midseason. im so exited. a version of ow that predates brig is gonna be great. still its open queue and well there is a reason why moth is as infamous as it is. but overall a breath of different air.[heres an idea ow classic last patch of ow1 but you guys actually balance the game ]
overall a better patch, not what i was hoping for but i was expecting much much much much much much much worse. considering the pattern i was expecting orisa hog and mauga microbuffs and widow buffs. although i was hoping they nerfed widow and canadian widow seems hitscan watch is still the play these days.
I exited too and this patch isn’t going to bring me back. Hazard needs more nerfs (he needs to lose something as he just has too much) and Widow and Ana will still be sucking the fun out of the game.
not a tracer issue though. buffing tracer certainly wasnt the correct play. maybe nerfing sojourn wouldve yielded more positive results.
disagreeing is one thing. what i meant by complete mess is why is it that some heroes get nerfed appropriately and some game busting heroes get no changes, or why is it that s9 is still messing with breakpoints left and right. clearly buffing echos beam is to make up for the tanks and 275+ heroes yet now 225 heroes will suffer because of that. not an issue pre s9.
This patch is another joke since S9, tanks more overpoweres, dps same, supports? more nerfs, the player base is on DPS and Supports, not TANKS and DPS need some nerfs (delete passive), not more buffs.
everything needs nerfs. supports too. as i stated in min 1 max 3. open queue is the ultimate balance stability check. to see if all roles are even. GOATS is litteral confirmation that tanks and supports are the most op roles, dps is however not far behind. moth meta classic will hopefully change people perspective as even though back then it was also the supports they where not even close compared to todays broken line up of supports
i do too. i havent been able to play echo properly since s9, but unbiased opinion aside 225 will suffer.
They needed to buff D.Va. I think Hazard needed a bigger nerf. And honestly, they just needed to leave 6v6 role queue there. The Min 1 Max 3 just ain’t it.
I think this is an L patch on the tanks, but the support changes were good and DPS changes were good. And I agree that OW Classic is also a bright spot.
Because I hate the tank changes though, I can’t give this patch higher than a C.
She is a lot better than Hog so let’s buff hog too then!! He should get priority as he is trash just now.
Yep. The CD nerf doesn’t really change anything as he has wall to use to survive longer when needed and his block is still so strong that even a sniff of healing can keep him up until he jumps out, even on really bad plays. He is way too hard to punish when played badly.
I think they know they need to do something for queue times as there is a shortage of tanks in 5v5 which is going to be really bad in 2-2-2 for DPS queue times.
min-1 max-3 definitely isn’t it though as 3 tanks is what ruins other modes like OQ and MH. max-2 on tank would make much more sense and perhaps max-2 on supports (but not as necessary). max-2-4-2 or 2-4-3 would make much more sense.
The Rammatra and Echo buff is nice.
The Winston and Tracer buff less so.
They’ll do anything but nerf the problem part of Ana’s bionade it seems.
Hazard’s nerf is fine I guess.
Oh hi Illari… forgot you existed. Even with the nerfs to Juno she really stole your time in the spotlight.
She’s better off than Hog, but to be frank not a lot better off. She’s the 8th most picked tank in Top 500 and he’s number 10 and there’s like 1% difference in pick rate between them.
And Hog did get a bit of a buff in that Ana got a nerf. Micro buff anyway because I don’t see it forcing Ana out of meta. I doubt it really changes much, but it is technically an indirect buff to him. D.Va got an indirect nerf because one of her counters (Echo) got buffed, precisely in the way D.Va can’t deal with, the beam.
Yeah, and I agree with you. The funny thing is I didn’t notice any queue time problems during the experiment. I’m sure they would have cropped up eventually, but for me it was fine.
Honestly, max 2 on everything but just let it be open queue first come first serve. People can fight over the DPS slots for all I care, but I don’t want more than 2 of them either.
