The meta right now is dive/rush so theoretically

Top 4 tanks are 3 dive tanks and zarya for some reason, Those three are:
1-winston
2-Hammond
3-D.va
Lets see what each one of them has to offer:

1-winston: the main dive tank, he has very good vertical/horizontal mobility and an ability to contest high ground from snipers and backline in general.

2-hammond: has probably the best mobility in tanks if utilized correctly, works as a diver/backline harrasser and has good utility in the form of singling out enemy teammates and punishes those by themselves, great overall.

3-D.va:i would class her as Brawler/diver as she can block a great deal of damage by using her DM and generally makes diving safer for her fellow dive tanks so she serves a very good utility.

Now, the meta suits those tanks and everything is nice and dandy, lets take a look at dps divers/top 4 picks.
Top 4 picks:
1-tracer: she serves as a harrasser/diver/flanker, but her biggest Drawback is her not having any sort of vertical mobility so in theory she sucks in maps with a lot of high grounds as she have to take the long route always.

2-widowmaker: she is a sniper, she in theory she should be countered by dive so i would give her the benefit of the doubt and say she is being pushed out of meta.

3-Echo: serves as flanker/tank melter with her beam, and can occasionally dive using her vertical mobility.

4-Ashe: a sniper, would guess she is the same case as widow; pushed out of meta.

Now those are the top 4 picks, only 2 of those actually serve as divers and saying a diver for tracer is a bit of stretch since she has no vertical mobility, so only 1 has any form of vertical mobility out of 4.

Lets see the classic example of dive dps.
1-tracer: was addressed above.

2-genji: has good vertical mobility in the form of dash (but usually reserved for escape) and double jump and wall climb, but his position is 11 out of 17 which is embarrassing since the meta supposedly suits him since he is a diver.

3-Doomfist: has some of the best “burst” mobility using his punch if used correctly can get him basically everywhere as he can bounce of a lot of objects and use various techs for getting to high ground, plus has good damage and can get out if he needs to, but his position is 8 out of 17 which is quite weird since he has all the basic traits that a dive comp likes so i will leave it at that.

Now the one million dollar question, why is genji/doomfist in this bad of a state when the meta is completely in their favor ?
I spent a lot of time on this so please discuss, thx everyone.

Doomfist I couldn’t say really, though if we’re talking about high ranks then I can see Widow popping Doom before he gets to her since he moves predictably

As for Genji though, his mobility suits him to work alongside a dive comp, but he also hates getting chased down. Winston is trouble for Genji, and Sombra is too since I hear she’s popular.

A character like Genji is kinda funny for being meta in a dive comp. Dive comps also have plenty of ways to deal with Genji.

She doesn’t, though. And she won’t.

She survives and thrives in Dive. One-shots will always be viable if a DPS is ever to be viable unless multiple shields are involved.

Because they got nerfed to hell, while widow & ashe got tiny changes.

Because Genji doesn’t get value out of his midfight; he gets value out of nano blade now days which works better with rush comps rather than dive.

If you want consistent mid fight value, Echo, Torb, and half the hitscans are way better picks than him

It’s dive meta and Ana is the most picked support :face_with_hand_over_mouth: girl she just ain’t right

Because he’s been overnerfed since the last time dive was meta.

Zarya is better than both d.va and ball because she’s just an out right stronger hero.

Ana is played because her abilites are busted and no one wants to admit for some reason

Genji and Doomfist are bad. The latter is also badly designed, but that’s a rant for another thread.
