The meta has not seen a drastic change since s5

The only change in the meta in the past 5 seasons was towards the support role. Winston and dva have completely taken the spotlight away from the other tanks. Tracer has not lost her spot in the meta since season 4 and the DPS slot is almost always genji. This is just sad for a game with over 25+ heroes to only at most half of the cast seen in play

Eh only professionally. In ladder the comps diversity is high. The fact that rein/Moira and other heroes are some of the most picked heroes proves it. Not only this but tracer isn’t even in top 10 all heroes in every rank except grandmaster.

While in other metas, it actually affected ladder massively where people ONLY played triple tank.

Dive is a playstyle than a meta professionally at this point. It’s probably the fundamental way of playing the game now that people understand it better. This is mainly due to the fact the game has an issue with “lingering contest” mechanic. (E.g one mobile hero can contest an objective for a long time even if they’re alone vs 5 people)

My experience has been different from yours where at the rank I play at dive is almost always needed to win. Though I fully agree with you that dive has advantages in this game over slow comps. Like how you can get a significant amount of more team fights with dive then with death all, or how 2cp is designed with a proper team wipe you can get 2 ticks before a death all comp gets back but against dive they can reach the point faster and stall longer, along with the worst offender which is the maps and there access to high ground

Edit: also I think it’s a given that dive is stricter in the pro secene then ladder since there goal is to win by what ever means while In ladder the line between having fun and winning start to blur. IMO rein is more fun then winston moira is more fun then mercy of Zen since when people play those heroes they feel like there just there to die to flankers

At what rank are you playing the game? I’m on gm with the exception of this season as I am not playing it, the diversity is still high. Jeff posted hero pickrates a week or so ago and tracer was only in top 10 for gm. Genji was not in top 10 in any rank. The only dominant dive hero in top 10 of each rank is dva.

I sit around 4100 to 4200 but I’m lower after a lose streak I peaked t500 in season 6

Yeah. Above plat meta-slavery is necessary to win.

I’m hoping that Brigitte is enough to introduce some chaos, however you’re likely to be one of the last people to see any of it since the meta-slaves are always the last ones to experiment with anything.

That is, unless the pros start using non-dive comps a lot more in OWL. Then I’d expect some of it to hit your SR a bit faster than normal. But until that happens, you’re probably stuck with dive for the next eternity.
