tbh it never completely left because they never addressed the problems Mercy has. It’s just sometimes drowned out by 2-2-2 or double shields or Moira or whatever else.

I mean… what do you expect? They never addressed the issues the community had with her and her stale 2.x gameplay get’s boring very fast, probably even for hardcore Mercy mains.
…Lucky for you, the vast majority of ex Mercy players already left the game entirely.
If you don’t like Mercy threads… ignore them or tell team 4 that they do something with her which is not just done to please streamers.

Role Queueueue thing.
Now that there’s always tanks, her current state of having a hard 50HPS outside of ult with no way of increasing it unlike other main healers (Ana, Moira, Baptiste, i don t really consider Brigitte a main healer despite the devs intention but she does have a way to increase her healing output by comboing packs and inspire). Meaning she has a hard time competing with these heroes for the main healer role.
She’s statistically ok, but the recent role queueueue really brought out a lot of “paradoxes” of her supposed character design. Mercy is supposed to have her power stem from raw healing output, but if you ask people her role now is to “pocket DPS”. her value seems to stem more from DMG boost and Rez than her healing.
Her healing numbers are also in line with Ana and Moira sure, but it’s only because of consistency throughout the entire game which includes ultimate usages. And along with Valkyrie doing the job for the player when it comes to healing due to chain beams, it’s easy to pump out healing without much thought. This coupled with the 50hps, makes it harder to do “juggling” which is why people say that her current usage is for “pocketing DPS” more.
Basically her kit “feels” bad, but people could make due prior to 222, with more DPS centric compositions. Now the “flaws” (which i’ve personally hated since the rework) in her current iteration despite being statistically “fine” is more apparent.
ps. i dont want mass rez back. i just want juggling back tbh

no i just mean they got posted alot today i dont go here as often but today i saw like 6 different mercy threads when a few days ago i saw 1 or 2.
Mercy was also fine before the rework that started everything so I don’t get why you’re surprised.

I would be fine with either giving her slightly more healing to be a main healer or some other utility to boost her support/dmg boost ability.
The PTR change to have her ult go through barriers will be a good one. It will give her the ability to ult to support a push through shields. Kind of like a Moira ult even if it’s not on the same level.
The PTR change is a bugfix… Valkyrie used to heal though barriers, but it stopped working a few months ago.
They’re obviously trying to bring back dive with this PTR patch, so they’re probably trying to get more people to play Mercy (a dive healer) by passing the bugfix off as a buff.

Gotcha, didn’t know it used to work, got back into the game about a month ago or so.
I would be fine with Dive coming back. I didn’t play duing Dive but Dive tanks are my favorite to play.
I wonder who their gonna look up to now that Aria rose is a low budget belle delphine

A Dive Comeback might be exciting… But as a healer main that was around when dive came around the first time, I find myself more nervous about it than anticipatory.
Before Moira and Brig, Tracer used to turn the entire support class into her personal punching bag. It didn’t matter which healer you swapped to; Tracer hard-countered you by default and made you feel disgustingly helpless to do anything about it (other than swap off healer entirely).
The only reason I was willing to subject myself to that kind of experience back then was because Mercy 1.0 just felt that good to play - even with dive heroes doing their best to turn any healer’s life into a living hell.
If Tracer makes a comeback to her… former glory of “whoever has the better Tracer wins”, I’m done playing healer until that changes.
