The Mercy Bias on these forums

Sycophants is now the word of the day.

Yeaaahhh, but you do find that in every player. Mercy is the most notorious because she has the largest following. Don’t even bat an eye. They’re the ones that don’t see the true problems with their favorite hero.

We’d be missing out on all the drama though.

How do you post images??

For you personally, you wait until this number flips up to 3.

You can post links to YouTube videos though.

Oh, what the. I was so confused as to why I could see links, but couldn’t post any. Thank you!

Honestly I think it’s a good thing to have people on the forums who main supports passionately enough to debate them.

I understand it’s hard for them to understand a DPS point of view but as long as they are willing to have a reasonable discussion I don’t mind talking to someone with a Mercy bias.

Guess you weren’t here when ”Suicide Res” was a thing.

That was a long while ago.

Not really. She was played a lot in lower levels of play where she belongs. Ana is a high skill healer and should be better for better players.

And no I’m not talking about just aim, Ana arguably requires twice as much game sense as Mercy since there’s no escape ability every 2 seconds or passive regen for that matter.

He said mass Resurrect was used on a regular basis throughout the history of the game. I was just giving him an example of when Mass Ress was absolute garbage.

In most games the character that requires more effort to play will inevitably surpass the character that takes less skill, it gives people purpose to play the more difficult character beyond bragging rights.

Most games do that…

Mercy main remembering the past wrong with opinions on bias lol

Projection.

It’s really those still defending the rework that are blatantly revisionist and like to pretend old Mercy was already a big problem. Which, SR exploit and invulnerability notwithstanding, just wasn’t the case.

I was there, reading threads and watching streams. I know who’s the ignorant side here.

The OP is obviously too biased to understand that mass ress was garbage back in season 1, 2, 3 and a bit of 4.

I mean mass rez Mercy was considered pretty weak. Not F-Tier but pretty weak. Even when she was reworked she wasn’t really anywhere near meta, but she could be comfortably swapped out with Ana, Lucio, or Zen if a player preferred them and still be viable.

A lot of people played Mercy because of an old SR exploit as well, where rezzes were taken into account too heavily when calculating a player’s SR gain making it very easy to climb.

The trick was so popular that a few well known GM Mercy mains started advocating it’s use, especially when the PTR patched it out

It is higher because UNDENIABLY Mercy is VASTLY easier to play than Ana even when Ana was the defacto best support for the tank meta and Lucio/Zenyatta was meta for dive.

I guess Lucio could be termed as “easier” but Mercy has escapes on shift and Lucio has to wall ride but we’re arguing semantics there.

Mercy is by far easier to play than the other primary healer at the time Ana. So she was a solid “I don’t support and HAVE to because my team locked in 3 other DPS sooo…”

“It’s them you guys, never me”

Exactly.

What’s the point of playing Ana trying my best to get better if I can just left click my teammates with Mercy and get the same value? Or even more.

Lower dificulty heroes (not only mechanically but gamesense wise too, like Brigitte) should be better for lower ranks, and harder heroes better at higher tiers most of the time. Map design would still play a good part of what is good so those heroes would still be playable in the higher tiers.

I was there at the time. While the rework was a pretty frustrating mess, I still prefer it over hide n seek every single damn game.

And some players did get boosted due to mass rez affecting SR gains, but that was fixed a little bit later.

More professional data. Can you provide something that is ladder play?
