I went from not getting anything, save for the free stuff on the BP, to actually getting stuff I care about. That’s pretty nice.
To be clear, the BP has nice stuff, but I don’t interact with the BP system at all in games. I still don’t know what I have on my own account because of that. There’s cool skins that I see and think “when did I get this?”, and that’s to say nothing of sprays, highlight intros and the like.
I will reiterate that an in game shop that you use real cash money to buy digital items SHOULD BE a more consumer friendly approach to cosmetics, but the way Blizzard did it just wasn’t consumer friendly at all. I for one and happy to see the boxes back.
Games should reward players for playing a lot, while giving the option to pay directly for cosmetics if they don’t want to “waste time” grinding for the skins. It shouldn’t take you 8 months just to scrape together enough coins to buy 1 skin in a game where there are 42 characters each with at least 10 skins each.
As for the Lootboxes, I got a legendary on my first box and it’s been nothin but gargbage since. I already ran through all of the lootboxes for the events and weeklies on the first day, so it’s going to feel incredibly slow for the next few weeks.
Every 20000xp would be wayy too much but add lootbox for every hero you level them to level 15 for example or so (and then 30) , or for every 10 progression levels you gain. OR the 3rd completed weekly to also give you a lootbox.
Due to the event i got many lootboxes at the start but now we have to wait a week to get 3 which is not enough.
My lootboxes have been basic stuff, but stuff I liked. Blues and purples, but emotes and voicelines. Over all, I’m happy but not blown away. That’s why I said they’re “pretty cool” and not the most mindblowing things yet.
Agreed. It took me so long to buy my first OW2 skin with just saving up the coins, and the skin was a purple. That Golf Soldier 76 skin. It should not have taken me months to get that skin.
That’s the reason why I wrote off all cosmetics in this game for the longest time. And once upon a time, I was greatly inspired by OW’s art direction.
Agreed. It’d only be close to enough if it was like a guaranteed legendary in each box. But really, I think there should be a free lootbox every few BP levels you get. I understand blizzard has to make money, but the lootbox don’t have to have every cosmetic.
The new stuff could be paid/BP only while boxes can contain everything before the current season. Which, that might be how they do things, I don’t know.
I’m thrilled that they’ve re-added lootboxes. I do think it would be better if there were other ways to get them outside of the regular 3 lootboxes a week though.
I used to really enjoy leveling up in OW1 because we’d get a lootbox every time we leveled up. If something like that was re-added to the game I think they would have an easier time retaining OG players.
Adding a legendary lootbox when a player reaches a major milestone with a character would be a really nice addition as well.
Every 20 normal lootboxes you get a legendary and every 5 you get an epic. Counter resets once you get one. So it pretty much forces you to either be lucky, or have average luck since the drop chance is like 5.1%. Pretty much not such thing as bad luck with the lootboxes; which is real nice.
Im very happy with the loot boxes returning (even if the missing animation-interaction it once had). I got a Lengendary loot box and got a sweet Orisa skin!
The return of the legalized loot boxes is a big Win.
I got blackwatch mcree or something and a banner I won’t use and an ok pfp. Everything else in 17 boxes have been garbage though, lots of sprays, couple voicelines and souvenirs. How many free boxes do we get per week? I feel like not having all the garbage unlocked already will really lower the chances to get the good stuff.
