Recently this video was uploaded by “urnotjustin” in the video Justin, a Platinum player (like myself) pushed from this rank to Masters by only playing Brigitte. Justin plays in Platinum with his friends so it is arguable that he actually has a higher skill level than his actual rank shows, within the video he claims that he plays competitive for fun, not always to win. I wanted to see if a real Platinum player (2509 SR) could recreate his results.

So, I’m going to put it upon myself to give it a try and I’m going to document my successes and failures while maining this hero for the entirety of S12.

Here’s a few notes about myself as a player.

I started in S7, placed Bronze.
I have currently been Platinum for 3 seasons.
I am a tank / support player, I can comfortably flex between heroes in both categories.
Lucio is the hero I have the most experience with.
Brigitte is not a hero I have much experience with (5 hours on current record).

I should explain how I’m going to be playing all of my matches. Firstly, flexing is allowed. I will play other heroes where I see fit, I will not lose matches for myself and my teammates by refusing to switch off Brigitte. Secondly I will be playing all of my matches without grouping with anyone, it will all be done solo, if this changes I will say otherwise. I will list anything else here if it becomes a FAQ.

Now this is all out of the way I am off to do my placements, I will edit this post as I go recording loses and victories.

Counters

During my time playing Brigitte this season I’ve noticed some possible counters to Brigitte, some counter Brigitte to a larger extent than others.

Pharah: This one is obvious, Brigitte is out ranged by Pharah heavily and can we wiped out by her with 3 connections. Pharah also can move Brigitte out of position with her Concussive Blast.

Ana: What makes Brigitte such a threat is her high self healing which she can benefit from while hiding behind her shield. Brigitte players are aware of this, this is what allows them to overextend and still come back alive. Ana’s Biotic Grenade means that Brigitte can’t self healing which reduces Brigitte as a threat and allows her to be wiped out fairly easily.

Reinhardt: In a 1 on 1 scenario Reinhardt will always come out on top. Reinhardt is terrifying. The only thing a Brigitte player is going want to do when a Reinhardt is running at them is to Whip Shot him away and locate the nearest exit before he catches up. If Reinhardt traps a Brigitte in a place where she cannot escape it’s all over for Brigitte.

Reaper: Reaper does decently against Brigitte. His high damage means he can burst down Brigitte’s shield very quickly and can still do decent damage while out ranging Brigitte. He also has his Wraith Form to get away from Brigitte in a pinch.

Brigitte: If you can’t beat them, join them.

These are just a few of the counters I’ve seen be more successful from my own games, obviously there are other heroes with abilities that can put a Brigitte at a disadvantage such as Orisa’s Halt but the ones I mention are more reliable and less situational.

Good luck.

This whole argument assumes that the opposing side isn’t going to be able to counter you, which can be done pretty easily with the right hero picks.

Thank you, If I am countered I will switch to a different hero if it will benefit the team. The idea of this is not to solely play Brigitte, the idea is to main Brigitte. I will still try to play her whenever I can get away with it. How much I’m playing Brigitte in comparison to other heroes will be visible through my profile which is open and accessible to everyone.

Also excited to see how this turns out just for curiosity’s sake. Pick-up groups inspire a different culture of play, so it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out for you. Good luck.

Seems like cheating switching when getting countered. I thought the whole point was to “prove she has no counters”.
