We all know you guys at Blizzard have had one planned forever, there’s no other reason you’d stay so quiet about him for so long if you weren’t trying to figure something out with him. Can you just admit already that you’re planning major changes so our hearts can be at rest with our baby?
20 months of being in his current state, he’s probably the hero who’s going to be removed/killed in the story.
That doesn’t mean that he won’t remain in the game or have changes made to him. The gameplay is non-canon…
It’s not inevitable. It will only become necessary when powercreep makes him non-viable in the meta.
He isn’t non-viable as it is already?
Nah, he’s great as he is.
He’s pretty great except for the parts where he sucks… which is basically all of him.
Don’t use him in the parts where he sucks. Same as any other hero.
That entails never using him
For you sure, I use him a lot and I use him to good effect. I’m satisfied with how he functions and what he can bring to the group.
Prediction:
"We’ve changed bastion to make him more viable in more situations by moving his former ultimate (tank mode) onto his e ability and watering it down.
Sentry mode will now be an ultimate ability and provide additional damage reduction and lower spread.
Hopefully this will make bastion more reliable on offence while reducing his reliance on teammates which forced the whole composition to play around the bastion."
remember year of the rooster bastion? that was fun while he could be used
He was a God that could outheal both Dragon ults. XD
Sounds like pharah without the flying.
He can be half decent when you have a full team pocketing you, but if not, he’s much less effective than he should be.
Which is exactly why he needs a rework…
As someone that is high bronze/low silver, I can tell you he’s annoying af down here. I can also tell you that my fellow bronzies (and probs silvers), are crying about him being op. So that’s my guess as to why he has yet to have a rework.
I mean, that’s mostly just learning to counter him and/or working as a team. If LFG is an option, I would suggest using it, and then making sure the team will communicate before queueing. If playing with friends is an option, that one is much more preferable.
Most rework concepts consist of reducing his spread. While this does improve his damage potential, it only does so for people that have decent aim. As he is now, even if you’re a few meters off from your target, you’re still doing pretty much the same amount of damage that you would normally because of how his spread works, which is what we’re trying to avoid. I’ve also suggested reducing his base damage by a bit (I normally suggest setting it to 12) and giving headshots back. That should reduce his average DPS in lower brackets a bit more because it locks his damage potential behind headshots.
Most rework ideas also suggest either removing or restricting Ironclad (restricting as in only applying it when Bastion uses self-repair), which would also help players deal with an enemy Bastion because if he doesn’t move, he dies faster than he would now.
He has a .05% pick rate at GM, a .13% pickrate at masters, .17% at diamond, .29% at plat, .46% at gold, .82% at silver, and 1.5% at bronze.
That is not the signs of him being “great”.
Though I do find it funny… Torbjorn is right alongside him at the bottom of the list. Except at Silver where Sombra gets between them and at bronze where Hammond joins Sombra between them.
So? Are his pickrates supposed to mean a damn thing?
