Developer Update that announced the Mercy changes
6:34 : ‘‘And we’re really eager to hear… we want to hear what the Mercy players have to say’’
9:44 : ‘‘Rest assured, if things aren’t playing out well on the PTR, or if things happen to go live and they’re not playing out perfectly or to the commuity’s liking, we will go back and keep looking at these things.’’
Countless negative feedback later…

Developer Comments: We feel that Mercy’s recent rework has been successful
Thousands of megathreads dissaproving the changes later and nothing that Jeff said he delivered, all feedback has been ignored, we’ve been censored time and time again. This has been going for almost a year.

The sad part is that the Devs will keep playingt his song and dance, chipping away at Mercy’s gameplay without addressing the actual issue that old Mercy was a better Mercy, that she will get more and more boring to play, but will still be a must pick.
And we as Mercy players will keep getting shut down by the community with “Hurr Durr you just want her to be OP!!!”.

Yes thread might get closed down because that is what they do with these threads…
I do agree though with this post.

Countless negative (repetitive) feedback from the same players over and over. Mercy mains aren’t the only ones playing Overwatch with an opinion on the kind of hero Mercy should be. Blizzard has there own sources of data, and obviously have good reason to believe what they’re doing is the correct choice. Mercy is clearly still in a stronger position than she was pre-rework, and still takes roughly equal amounts of skill to play, if not more.

Really? Then why is nearly every hero being complained about? Mercy just happens to have the loudest shouters on both ends of the spectrum, but you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who’s happy with the way this game’s being run.

Can we please stop trying to take this out of context?
When they said “They’ll go back and look at things” they meant they’ll go back to looking at Mercy as a whole and balance her from there (which they very obviously did with her many iterations that followed). They never meant they’d go back to how things were before the rework.

Disappointments everywhere
Please end this overexaggeration of this mercy changes. The critisms about the mercy changes is only spoke from mercy mains that most of the time haven’t experience anything else that this character is this diverse heroes selection.
First of all, the critism have been heard but the fact that you narrow-minded mercy players are consistenty wrong, it’s disturbing. For some context, mercy is one the most important support to have in a team today and she is still one of the most used hero in Overwatch, as you can see in competitive or in the OWL ; which led to other support being less picked, like Ana or Lucio. So, my point is that this nerf is mainly meant to reduce the gap between the hero selection in the support category and so create more diversity (which is good and which is the main goal of Blizzard atm). Moreover, I am also convinced that her pick-rate won’t be influenced much. Mercy remains a crutial core of a team with her rez ability that finally found a good spot in the game : difficult and rewarding. For all the people complaining about the rez : it wasn’t balanced. It’s good to finally be able to play something different in the support category like Ana now. (This is Blizzard goal : make all characters valuable if you still didn’t get it)
Finally, for all the people saying “they are ignoring our critism” and “mercy keeps getting nerfed to the ground”. Please wake up from your utopia one-tricking world, the game should never be based on 1 character. If the new mercy with more mechanics disturb you, you can play an other game like Peggle. There’s plenty of other heroes to play, oh wait no because mercy is too important to leave her on the bench. Anyway it would have been too difficult to play an other character that is not based on W+M1. I am tired of these mercy mains that remains convinced that the 5-man rez was a good thing. Please move on from the past and open your minds.

It’s spelled hippocracy, OP. The term comes from the fact that hippos are real douchebags that pretend to be nice vegans when they’re actually murderous carnivors.

Of course someone is always upset, there are too many people for it to even make sense otherwise. It’s easy to find people happy with the changes, they’re just significantly less passionate about it.

You’re right. I completly agree.
My thread stating exactly this kinda stuff got a lot of attention (55+ likes I believe) and was recently moved into a megathread, that they will no doubt ignore.
I believe that mercy mains that only plays her and only are a very closed perspective about the situation. I am giving, in my response to this thread, a second perspective from a flexing player and a competitive player.
Nobody is upset that she is being nerfed, but that she is being nerfed in the wrong areas. Obviously Mercy was much healthier before Valkyrie because she needed 5 buffs just to be on the level as the other supports. Even remaining terrible in higher level play (diamond+), which is how it should be. She SHOULD BE bad at higher level play because she is an entry level hero, which is what Mercy 1.0 provided. Once she was finally on par with the other supports after 5 buffs, a rework (Lucio’s rework, not her’s), and many Ana nerfs, people realized just how brutally annoying Mercy’s Resurrect was. Not that is was even good or OP (because it was neither), but because undoing work in these games is annoying.

Oh yeah, and that reasoning has been paying off incredibly so far hum? OP Hanzo, frustrating Baggete, Mercy getting 10 Nerfs in a row, Sombra’s Buffs turning out to be Nerfs, Symmetra’s SECOND rework still not taking her out of trash tier…
Blizzard screws up time and again and don’t listen to feedback, because every one of those problems were brought up in the forums multiple times, but they insist on pushing stuff into live, which is ruining the game. The proof is in the pudding, friend.
