The problem was the perception of “hiding”. Most of the casuals that play this game, the ones that cried for a nerf/rework assume anything and everything is hiding even if you are playing smart, assessing the situation to realize an ult fight is probably about to happen and you as Mercy have rez, so you position yourself to not take damage but still heal your teammates, AS MOST MERCY PLAYERS DID. But no, people still ignored the “I’m right here” beam and unloaded everything only to see the smart mercy come in and swing the fight due to poor ult management and game sense.
Yesterday I was playing Orisa of Temple of Anubis, on defense, 30 seconds left. I had super-charger ready and noticed the other team had a Sombra that hadn’t used her EMP yet. I position myself to far left so I have vision of the point, my team stays there. Sombra jumps right on top of them and drops her ult, they all get hit…except I’m right there with my ult, unaffected by EMP. I drop the drum and my team clears the point with raw firepower thanks to me.
Now did I hide or did I have the common sense to see what was coming and acted accordingly? Should Orisa get her ult nerfed/reworked because of what I did? Because going by what some of you say, including kaplan himself, I wasn’t doing my job of tanking for the team up front because I re-positioned myself in a blind spot so therefore she should. Now does that make any sense?

Most of it was actually “Die early, respawn, GA fly in, then Rez”.
Easy solution, no more GA to souls

I don’t agree, souls are extremely useful as an escape too, not only for rez. No need to nerf her mobility too.

Mercy could use some reduced pickrate.

That is factually not true, and you know that. And even it it were if your team doesn’t burn all their ults at once you still win the fight. And even if THATS not an option why is no one deciding “ok we won the fight, but mercy is probably on her way back, let me cut her off so she can’t get the rez off” there’s only one direction shes coming from if she died first.

Reduced pick rate does not mean “ok now we gutted this hero so nobody will pick him/her”. It is an easy and cheap method of balance.

Yes its bad game sense on the Enemy’s part if they…if you will excuse me for a sec “Blow their load” lol
okay I’m done.
But why should Mercy get to undo it at the simple press of a button?
GA makes it even worse (I will actually agree with GreyFalcon in terms of GA used for the Res only part)
Because every other time Mercy got nerfed Mercy mains said she was getting gutted and nobody would pick her.
And then she bounces right back to must-pick status.

The problem comes up when its massively abused and universally hated by everyone but the abuser.

The same reason Mcree, Reaper, Junkrat, Pharah and technically Hanzo can?
We need to understand that nerf her ult, mobility, hps is completely irrelevant and are bad choice of design, because it’s the res as an ability who kept her mandatory. A botton to denied a kill every 30 seconds.
I think Grey meant no GA to souls for the purpose of doing a “Mass Res”. Leaving GA to souls for moblity sake alone.
Not sure how that would translate in-game though lol
So did I as Orisa abuse “hiding” then? Because I’ve been playing this game long enough to know that when its close to overtime a predictable ult fight is coming, and if the enemy team has Sombra then that is very likely the first ult. And it ALWAYS is.

It’s not true that it was “most of it”, but that was a pattern that happened a lot.
Ult economy is important in Overwatch. Managing ults is important, and burning them all at once is only advised if it will outright win you the game or extend the timer in a desperate situation.
However, in the game of ultimates, Mercy’s was Exodia, beating out every other combination with no real way to stop it aside from tearing it to shreds and dropping it into the oceanic abyss.

So in which situation i can use this ultimate? I must hope to be the last who die in a team fight and then res? Remembering that mercy fly on a straght line, a bit of gamesense and she was blowed up in an instant when she GA to made a big res.

Well I was only explaining what I thought Grey was trying to say in a different way (I think he/she meant that)
Using GA for the PURPOSE of Ressing someone, should be disabled.
Using GA for the PURPOSE of mobility etc, should still work.
But that can’t really work ingame lols
The problem with killing her during GA before she does Res is that most the community doesn’t really have good tracking.
One of the arguments was “just kill her 4head” which started a meme about it.
Its easier said than done, specially with how quick she flies.
I don’t think its a valid argument in my own opinion that just kill the hero is a valid “counter”.
…and that’s why Sombra exists. Don’t want her ulting after the fact? Keep an eye out for her so you can hack her OR you EMP right on top of her she she dies with her team.

No need to cheap humorism, we are talking in a civilized way and everyone has his opinion. I only think that your solution is not appropriate. They could use LoS, decreased range, a little cast time…

I remember games when Mercy had mass rez, it almost always went like this:
- losing fight
- Mercy, “die close together”
- Mercy stops healing and hides
- Mercy flies back in to try for the 3-5 man res
Very few mercy players I encountered did tempo-res. The idea of tempo res wasn’t super well known for a long time. It was mostly the pros and higher ranks who did it. – in my experience –
