The Hero Settings Controls in Custom Games

I wasn’t entirely sure where this would belong, but I figured that this would be the best place to post, considering it technically has something to do with modifying the game abilities and concepts etc.

In the custom hero settings in custom games, it seems a bit limited. I figured that there could be a few improvements and additions to that tab there. Some things in there can’t be modified with Workshop, like barrier HP, certain ultimates, etc… So here things that I want in the Custom Games hero editor, even if it might make it a bit more complicated, I try to think of it similar to how the current ones work (using percentages, On/Off etc.):

General Hero Settings

  • A fairly obvious one first, ultimate duration. I think the following should really be able to have their durations able to alter
    • Mercy’s Valkyrie
    • Sigma’s Gravitic Flux cast
    • McCree’s Deadeye
    • Echo’s Duplication
    • Ana’s Nano Boost
    • Brigitte’s Rally
    • Orisa’s Supercharger
    • Symmetra’s Photon Barrier
    • Roadhog’s Whole Hog
  • Altering barrier HP. This is also a pretty obvious one, since we can’t really change barrier HP unless we alter the max HP, to which the HP ratio is still proportionate to the hero HP
  • Ability durations. Right now, we can only alter Torbjorn’s Overload duration. but why can’t we change the others? I think the following should have their abilities extended as well:
    • Orisa’s Fortify and Protective Barrier
    • Wrecking Ball’s Adaptive Shields
    • Winston’s Barrier Projector
    • Sigma’s Kinetic Grasp
    • Baptiste’s Immortality Field
    • D.Va’s Boosters and Micro Missiles
    • Echo’s Flight
    • Genji’s Deflect
    • Hanzo’s Storm Arrows
    • Zarya’s Barriers
    • Reaper’s Wraith Form
    • Mei’s Cryo-Freeze and Ice Wall
  • When it comes to combat modifiers, (speed, damage dealt, healing received, HP etc.) we know that barely any of them can be set at 0%. Even if we have Workshop, they should still be able to be set at 0%, or at least lower than the minimums we have right now
    • Health, Damage Dealt, Damage Received, Healing Received, and Healing Dealt can only set at a minimum of 10%. While Max HP is reasonable, the others should be able to set lower
    • Jump Vertical Speed and Movement Gravity can only be set at 25%
    • Movement Speed can only be set at 50%
  • Tracer, Junkrat, Brigitte and Symmetra all have charges for their abilities, so I feel like we should be able to alter the amount of charges
  • Owned Object stats (HP, Damage Dealt, Damage Received etc.): It would be nice to be able to change the stats of them, even if it’s just the HP to lower the complication. By Owned Objects, they’re entities that can be destroyed, placed etc. Here’s all the ones that I’m talking about:
    • Junkrat’s Steel Trap and Concussion Mine
    • Turrets (Including BOB)
    • Symmetra’s Teleporter
    • Baptiste’s Immortality Field
    • Mei’s Ice Wall
    • Orisa’s Supercharger
    • Sombra’s Translocator
    • Widowmaker’s Venom Mine
  • Damage Amplification Dealt: Increase the damage amplification that heroes can deal (Mercy, Ana, Orisa, Baptiste)
  • Damage Amplification Received: Increase the damage amplification from damage boosts
  • Melee knockback scalar - Simple, just alter the amount of knockback melee can deal
  • Knockback received - Alter the amount of knockback the player can receive

Hero Specific Changes
These more relate to specific heroes, and can’t really put into a category

[Ana]

  • Projectile Gravity
    • Strangely doesn’t have this as an option in her hero settings

[Ashe]

  • B.O.B. Uppercut Knockback Scalar
    • Alter the distance B.O.B.'s Uppercut can deal

[Baptiste]

  • Exo Boots Acceleration Scalar
    • Alter the distance Baptiste can jump from Exo Boots
  • Exo Boots Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration Baptiste takes to reach max charge for Exo Boots
  • Exo Boots Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Exo Boots

[Brigitte]

  • Repair Pack Armour Scalar
    • Alter the amount of extra armour Brigitte can give with Repair Pack
  • Rally Armour Gain Scalar
    • Alter the amount of extra armour Brigitte can give with Rally

[Doomfist]

  • Rising Uppercut Acceleration Scalar
    • Alter the distance Doomfist flies with Rising Uppercut
  • Rocket Punch Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration Doomfist takes to reach max charge for Rocket Punch
  • Seismic Slam Knockup Scalar
    • Alter the distance Seismic Slam can knock enemies up
  • Seismic Slam Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration Doomfist takes to reach max charge for Rocket Punch
  • The Best Defense… Shield Gain Rate
    • Alter the amount of shields Doomfist gains from landing an ability
  • The Best Defense… Enabled
    • Disable/Enable The Best Defense…

[D.Va]

  • Ammunition Clip Size Scalar
    • She strangely doesn’t have this as an option in her hero settings

[Echo]

  • Sticky Bombs Fuse Time Scalar
    • Alter the time it takes for Sticky Bombs to explode

[Genji]

  • Cyber Agility Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Double Jump and Wall Climb

[Hanzo]

  • Wall Climb Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Wall Climb

[Lucio]

  • Sound Barrier Max Shields Scalar
    • Alter the amount of shields Lucio gives with Sound Barrier
  • Wall Ride Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Wall Ride

[Mercy]

  • Angelic Descent Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Angelic Descent

[Sigma]

  • Experimental Barrier Acceleration Speed
    • Alter the flight speed of Experimental Barrier
  • Primary Fire Knockback Scalar
    • (Even though it pulls in, it should still have a knockback scalar, like a stronger or faster pull) Increase the pull speed for Hyperspheres
  • Kinetic Grasp Shield Drain Scalar
    • Alter the duration it takes for the shields from Kinetic Grasp Sigma gains to reach 0

[Sombra]

  • Opportunist Enabled
    • Disable/Enable Opportunist

[Symmetra]

  • Primary Fire Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration it takes to reach max charge with primary fire
  • Secondary Fire Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration it takes to reach max charge with secondary fire

[Widowmaker]

  • Scoped Charging Scalar
    • Alter the duration it takes to reach max charge with scoped shots

[Wrecking Ball]

  • Adaptive Shields Shield Scalar
    • Alter the amount of shields Wrecking Ball gains from Adaptive Shields

[Zarya]

  • Energy Drainage Scalar
    • Alter the duration it takes for Energy to drain to 0
  • Energy Gain Scalar
    • Alter the amount of energy Zarya gains from her barriers

if you use workshop you can set the stats like damage dealt, damage received etc to 0, everything except of health, and many of the thing you said can be customized inside workshop and not hero settings

I am aware that you can customize them in Workshop, but it should still have an option to set it at 0 or lower. There’s not much reasoning why, and it could possibly lower the annoyance of heading into Workshop, as of if one would want to make a game without using workshop

you can set it to zero actions { Set Damage Dealt(Event Player, 0); }

As I said, I am aware that they can be edited in Workshop, but I’m saying “Well why can’t we set them lower? There doesn’t seem to be a point why we shouldn’t”

Completely agree, I’d love to see these abilities adjustable in workshop.
