Are the changes now live or are they next season? (Which is in 4 days, so close)
Next season, Dorado, Numbani, Havana, and Circuit Royal are receiving massive changes. I’m hoping they eventually touch up Blizzard world first point and some of the control map objectives.
All the changes look promising. Im positively surprised we get all the updates at once, thought we just get one map at a time.
The stairs at dorado 2nd are probably my favorite. (though it looks kind of funny).
Circuit will be interesting to see how it plays out.
The fact that you will be able to have more opportunities to flank hitscans(Cassidy is exempt due to his crappy range) taking up high ground on these maps is something I greatly look forward too.
But also the fact that there will be seemingly a lot less sniper angles is probably the biggest game changer for Havana and Circuit.

The only changes ive seen for circuit looked completely useless.
They changed so much of the area just outside the attackers first spawn when you literally only spend 20-30 seconds in that area…. None of those fix that when you round that corner its just defenders all stood on that high ground.
Has 2nd been changed? Didnt see anything for that. That is the main section of the map that is the problem
In fact, i think the fact they removed the stairs up to that little balcony on the right side as the attackers come out is a nerf to attackers. That was a great position to stand on as you were rounding the corner. Now you’re more boxed in.
There are quite a few, im not sure if the pictures even really describe them in a obvious way. There werent all picture available early on I think, the whole showcase can be seen as a slideshow here:

At Circuit attacker spawn there is now a door on the “highground” that goes into the building opposing the spawn on the right. Im not exactly sure how that then plays out - suppose there is a window to the main street or something.
And on the “1st path after” -image, you can see that window on the right side that allows you to drop on the ledge near the bridge. Or however you would describe it - some changes are quite easy to miss, they could have highlighted them.
All in all the changes are quite extensive imo and I can understand how it took time for them to do it, as usually modifying existing maps can be tricky.

I had a rein on dorado today while they had a dva.
We unsurprisingly lost
But stairs for most maps might be a good design choice going forward.
Just seen some more pics of circuit and not impressed by the changes. Doesn’t look like they are actually addressing the issues with the map and instead just added extra doors to useless places
The defenders high ground on the bridge on first point is completely unchanged. There is just a bunch of pointless changes in the spawn area where no one even plays in but nothing to actually address the broken high ground control where you cant turn the corner on the main street without having your head blow off. They need to add a flank somewhere on the right just out of attackers spawn that wraps behind the high ground so you can actually approach that area from multiple angles. As it stands despite all the extra rooms and paths added you are STILL funnelled through the main street while the defenders get to just sit on high ground and pop heads
2nd point is completely unchanged. They added a new barrier on the hill as you push but that doesnt stop how broken that high ground gap defenders can use is. You will still get shot down on relentlessly because they have made no changes to how that part of the map is. Useless door onto a high ground no one uses cus its the opposite way you need to go.
3rd point changes very weak too. Extra side door and bigger side room… what about an additional way to get up to that window with the pool other than having to completely leave the fight for 10 seconds to go on some outside flank. That useless room on the right where they added the extra door should have had some stairs that go up to the pool

Based on the changes I’ve seen to Circuit it will do almost nothing because the sightlines and lack of useful, covered flanks simply haven’t been addressed. It will still be sniper hell.
Havana looks to be the same story of simply not addressing the problem.
Dorado and Numbani changes look good.
I think the changes to the first will change how it plays quite a lot. Two extra windows / openings into the street will give attackers a lot more angles of attack.
On the second the “curve” has been widened, which implications is hard to say. And then that new door to the “balcony” on the curve will help things imo, i could see myself use that location as ana a lot more.
Thats the problem INTO THE STREET
The whole point is still just funnelled into the street…. They needed to add some extra paths around or behind the main street so you dont have to just run through what is essentially a canyon of defenders shooting down at you. There still is no way to get to that high ground without running through the main street
Well, the window on the right (defender pov) will take you to the right highground immediately without having to run on the street (ground level) too much.
And then it depends where the second window (on the left side from defenders pov) is, I’d suppose it is at the same height as the bridge - but the exact distance to it is not known.
I mean, I suppose that the new door from attackers spawn on the right high ground will lead into a balcony/window somewhere to the street on the left side, but it just not visible on the images.
We’ll know soon enough anyways.
Circuit Royal changes are interesting; Havana changes don’t address the problem and if anything just make the sniper situation even worse, imo.
Yup…worried to find out how much dev time went into not really addressing the problem while potentially just forcing brawl comps to deal with it instead, at least in the case of circuit.
I’m like 99% sure that havana and circuit are still going to be widow diff maps, so far from the changes we have seen… nothing changes the effectiveness of “widow or lose”.
And going based off a past rework to a sniper map (junkertown) it’ll mostly likely STAY as “widow or lose” maps, just like junkertown did.
