The hatred for Symmetra and Torb is vile and unacceptable

This community is absolutely terrible in their abuse towards people who play Symmetra and Torb. No one should have to endure the toxicity we go through on a regular basis.

What makes it worse is that not only is it sanctioned by the rest of the community (to the point people are cheering they can avoid honest hardworking players just for playing a builder, or they say we threw for making the actual thrower throw because our hero choice is inherently toxic ugh) but by Blizzard themselves with the terrible and oft abused report system that enables witch hunters and offers no help or recourse for the victims of bogus reporting that results in unjust bans. Unless you’re a big time streamer like Fuey or Stevo, you have gms who uphold these bans that are clearly the result of people being salty about a Sym or Torb on their team and who say things like “maybe you should cooperate and switch,” effectively siding with the people who hurl verbal abuse and threaten violence towards you throughout the match. There’s no hope for us little guys who don’t have big followings and just want to play our favorite heroes without despicable harassment.

Every Symmetra and Torb player can tell you horror stories of what they’ve had to put up with, and there’s a mountain of documented evidence from Sym and Torb players who can show that the system is horribly flawed and punishes them unfairly, and denies us the security of actually being able to play our favorite game as our best and favorite heroes.

People are crying about players leaving Overwatch, and yet this community unapologetically and enthusiastically wants to push players out for not playing the game Their Way.

Um, newsflash: you can have hours on every hero, have more than one hero in your competitive pool, and yet if you play Symmetra or Torb, you’re automatically hated.

That is not the point of the OP. Basic reading comprehension is hard.

Maybe their first pick is sym or torb and they may switch later if it doesn’t work out. But these players will be INSTANTLY asked to switch without even playing.

Agreed, (some) People don’t understand what chances are

Yep, it’s pretty disgusting. I just report everyone who does that unless they are very polite about it.

Same thing happens to Widow and Hanzo I’ve been called all kinds of awful things in hero select before the match even starts that I don’t dare repeat here.

To be honest I’m bored to listen to the same complains for one more time, BUT you need to understand when your team can accomodate Symmetra or Torbjorn and when not.

If the other dps is a projectile user like Junkrat, then you are doomed to have no focus. In this case, tanks should cover you and in the same time secure kills, which is not their primary role. Other than nonviable compositions, I don’t have a problem as long as the second dps can accomodate the weakness of those two i.e. a hitscan like soldier or mccree.

Symmetra and Torb aren’t the only ones. Try picking Hanzo or Widow – or both. Before the game even starts you’ll hear the infamous “Widow/Hanzo switch we don’t need snipers”. Then get blamed for the loss of the game because snipers exist.

thats because if you have terrible aim, you shouldn’t be playing a sniper.

You can have 50+% scope acc and still get told to switch off of widow lmao

Hmm. I wonder why. It’s almost as if running underpowered and easily countered heroes is going to significantly affect your chances of winning and subsequently someone else’s SR.

Tbf, if you have both hanzo and widow as your dps someone is probably going to have to swap ~in anything probably diamond-ish and below. Most people just aren’t putting out the damage/kill secures fast enough to swing fights. Though it can happen, i understand when people get nervous about it.

If it’s been a full min, and you haven’t eliminated anyone. Then 50% of scope acc does not count.

It doesn’t even matter if that Hanzo and Widow are carrying the game; they get blamed anyway. They miss one shot and immediately get accused of exactly what you just said.

I could say that you shouldn’t be playing Torb or Symmetra because you’re getting hard countered.

Im not gonna lie - I prefer having neither of those heroes in my team. But when I do and someone starts to be toxic, I stick up for them - as anyone should.

I can’t wait for both of them to get their rework, hopefully it will help and make them a welcome addition

People dont hate torb and sym, they hate their automated kits and getting killed in essence by mechanics that have literally zero input from the user. Sym turrets, her left click are both highly automated and torbs turret is also.

If the time you spent on Torb had gone into different dps heroes your team would have a better chance of winning. He is statistically and numerically inferior to just about every other hero he competes with for a spot on your team. Putting effort into playing him is shooting yourself in the foot, and in a competitive environment where it’s generally accepted that the primary goal is winning, and hero selection is an integral path towards that goal, it’s very disappointing to be let down because someone put themselves ahead of the team.

It’s just how the game works. Heroes like Torb should be quickplay only heroes until they are balanced and actually become viable competitive picks.

That’s a team problem tho, imo. You guys have cripple targets in front of you and fail to do anything about it. Just a little tase slap from winston could finish an 80 HP target. In a perfect world all of our snipers never miss shots and always gets headshots, but we aren’t perfect.
