The game constantly asks to be restarted to apply changes

Since the last update, a “Graphics API” option has been added (with only the choice of DirectX11). Now the game constantly asks to restart to apply the change of settings.

Also, what is the point of this option since there is no other choice than DirectX11?

I’m also having this issue. My graphics are off too. There’s a slight lag and packet loss. Could just be my wifi though.

I’m also having this issue. Also, something that happened to me: my game was in fullscreen borderless for some reason. Took me a while to notice too

Same. I have an ultrawide monitor and it’s not displaying the correct 3440x1440 ratio and can’t fix it.

Same. Directx 12 would be cool imo.

Same problem here. I had that larger update yesterday. Since that, DirectX 12 is not shown anymore (it’s just blank below DirectX 11) and Overwatch is as well constantly asking to restart to apply the changes. In addition if I otptimize the settings using the NVIDIA app, Overwatch changes it right away and applies strange settings as I can see from the ini-file.

Same here on an RX 6700 XT. There isn’t really a serious issue for me, the game just asks to be restarted for no reason.

Did they mention anything about what Graphics APIs are supposed to be available?

Same here, also DLSS keeps reverting to Auto no matter what I set it as.

Hi Z7Z
In the more distant past, it was always DirectX 11 with always the same NVIDIA optimized settings. That stayed the same for at least a year and worked just fine without any problems.
For about a month before that Overwatch update two days ago, I observed that now DirectX 12 and NVIDIA DLSS 3 was shown but otherwise the same known detailed settings - and it worked.
Now it’s back on DirectX 11 and the selection list shows DirectX 11 and a blank field below (where DirectX 12 formerly was shown). And Overwatch keeps on telling me to restart the game to apply the settings - no matter what kind of settings including resetting to the standard values.
In adddition, applying the same settings as ever using NVIDIA optimization, results in Overwatch changing the parameters independently - by itself.
Such as DLSSPerformanceQualityMode = “5” is beeing changed to “6”, Min/MaxWorldScale = “66.666672” is beeing changed to “100” and others - erratic.

Finally and as of right now, only DirectX 11 NVIDIA DLSS 3 stays stable but with the red marker to restart the game constantly.
Maybe this is an incompatibility issue with 24H2 (got that in December)…

I’m on Windows 10 with an AMD GPU and the “Restart game for settings to take effect” along with the Graphics API dropdown menu initially showing “DirectX 11” and a blank option happened to me too. Now it only shows DirectX 11 with no other option.

So it is OS and GPU independent, I think.

UnclǾneable - thank you for this additional information.
You’re right, same experience on different Windows versions by using different GPUs points towards an Overwatch homemade issue.
