The new progressions system seems to largely mirror the old leveling system right down to the fact that the early levels are pretty easy. It is 2000exp for the first level and if you did the campaign first you probably got that from clearing one of the events. However, it grows VERY fast and does not seem to slow down anytime soon. To from 5 to 6 is 12000 and to go from 12 to 13 is 28000 which is just an insane amount.
What is the point of making the levels take far longer than the OW1 levels? There is not even a lootbox attatched.
If the goal was to reach level 100 and 200 for all the fun of progression then sure, but they set a weekly of 8 progression levels per week which seems like that is what they expect but then its going to end up with 8 progression levels being a 50 hour weekly. That just seems poorly thought out. It will work fine for the season because you can pick new heroes but by the end of next season it is going to be miserable.
Ah, fair enough, I didnāt know about that, I donāt look at challenges. Might be a noob-friendly challenge or a challenge meant to tempt people to branch out to unfamiliar heroes.
Speaking of old stats, did the devs ever admit what happened to our OW1 competitive stats before season 35? Iām guessing they had some lame excuse to cover up that they were just unintentionally deleted.
I think they are just intentionally only showing the previous 5 seasons and the current comp season. I think it is weird but it seems to be their way of doing things. I would not put it past someone to have thought it was a good way to counter the toxicity that used to exist from checking where people were in season 3 or 10 to see if they were ārealā GMs before lashing out at them.
They said in a livestream itās basically a āsoft reset on statsā to anyone. But I also agree they should just straight up not ignore our current stats. They really donāt do anything the right way to make sense. They could have also added our old OW1 level border on top of the new one, itās basically the same border without a number plate on it⦠THeyāre just re-using old stuff anyway.
I agree with you but I think the logic they are using is that season 6 is the ārealā launch of Overwatch 2 and the earlier seasons were the āearly accessā period that they mentioned prior. With that thought process I think they want peoples progression to be a rank of how they progress in Overwatch 2.
I disagree. A lot of people got bugged stats and it was killing the vibes. A soft reset was definitely welcome in my opinion. The old stats are still there, but moving forward, everyone is on the same page. It SHOULD have been done for the āsequelā from the start to be honest.
The bugged stats still exists (i.e. anything related to D.va demech mit dmg for example).
I would gladly like to flex my Junkrat heal stat doe
EDIT: The āsoft stat resetā should have been done before, but they kept it because they are absolutely incompetent at doing it the right way. They could have easily archived all the data somewhere else. Thatās why Iām on the other side of the argument here. Since we both have the OW1/OW2 stats and the āProgression OW2ā stats, it looks very weird when you look at older profiles now.
I mean asking for what will become 50 hours to complete a weekly is more than casually. At that point they are saying to do a weekly OW must become your full time job.
To be fair, it is already like that. No way any normal player is able to get all these challenges done per week as is. Even the second tier is very questionable and you have to actively go for it. This entire system is not designed for casual play. I do agree that this challenge will easily become the most time consuming before long, but I think they added a system for progress to roll over. So even if you only finished it every few weeks, it would make your life easier on those weeks.
And thatās totally fine. Iām not completing all of these challenges anymore. The sooner people get over āFOMOā and just play when they want, the better off they will be!
I know, I know⦠the design does increase FOMO⦠but it makes money and the only way to beat it is just to play games when you want to and not worry about unlocking every single thing.
Except that challenge is unique in that it is the ONLY challenge to also reward old credits so if you are one of the people who does not have anything, or you burned through most of your OW1 credits already, that is one of the only ways outside of the BP to gain more.
Making one of the only ways to get more a weekly that will quickly become unobtainable is just bad design. The idea of putting credits on weekly quests is actually a good idea because we are not exactly short on BP exp at the moment but making that virtually unobtainable after a few weeks is going to just going to make people madder about it then they were before it existed.
