it’s interesting, we’ve known about content like space ranger and clash for over half a year, but now that we got it we really don’t know much about the future. All we can say concretely about the upcoming seasons is
next season (or very small chance the one after) is witch themed
Reaper is getting a rework at some point
Season 14’s hero is a tank
Next season will include some map reworks
They will be trialing 6v6 at some point
So no we’re in a kinda mystery area now for the game. I wonder if they’ll do another big infodump or if they’ll go back to teasing stuff a few weeks before it comes out
Hopefully the latter. Seeing everything last blizzcon was fun at the time but it has seriously killed the hype-building of each season since we already knew what was coming next.
Pretty sure they only showed us everything last year for damage control. After pve was cancelled and everyone saw what invasion was, I think the devs went into panic mode thinking people would start to quit thinking the game was essentially being cancelled. So they showed everyone the next year worth of content was already far in development just to assure everyone the game was going nowhere. + if you think about it, the only thing they had to announce without mentioning venture juno clash etc. wouldve been mauga. So it was a combination of having nothing else to announce short term besides mauga + damage control that made them just show us everything coming up
I really feel all the hero releases since blizzcon, mauga, venture and juno, have fallen flat on their faces because there is 0 hype outside just the general buzz of it being new content. Getting to test the new heroes for a weekend in the previous season already diminished a lot of the hype for new season launches. But Knowing what is coming out in next 10 months beforehand is a whole new level of deflating hype.
The game has essentially been a checklist for the last 10 months of ‘yep weve gotten that piece of content which they showed so next has to be this’. As soon as mauga came out it was immediately onto counting down to venture. And the same after venture was out everyone immediately just started counting down to juno. Each new hero has just been forgotten because we know what is next so everyone shifts gears to the next big thing meaning the current hero gets forgotten.
The fact we now dont know what the new tank looks like or anything about them makes it more exciting the closer we get to season 14. That trial weekend in season 13 will actually be something to get excited about and hopefully blizzard go back to teasing new heroes in maps and on social media before theyre announced.
It sounda like they are going to tease what the next season will be. Maybe they put so much time and energy into this season that even they dont know whats going to be next season’s theme.
Ha,. Yeah, no. Maybe in the next decade. If they didn’t want to release it this season, they probably aren’t going to release it at all.
It’s been a year since it was announced and it’s still not even being publicly spoken about. It doesn’t help that nobody (other than die-hard Reaper mains) really even cares for his rework. Ask any content creator what they think about it, all of them have the same answer.
I doubt it is about whether they want to or not. The inherent problem is that they have no idea HOW to rework him. They were contemplating… Shadow Step changes. That should tell you all you need to know.
I agree, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing horrendous reworks in the past. My guess is that their waiting for a season without content (like Juno’s hero release is enough for this season) in which another, more anticipated rework isn’t also ready to be released.
So basically by the time Reaper Mythic 2 comes out.
I’m gonna be honest with you, I don’t care much at all what they do from now on and I don’t expect anything from this team. When MH Wilds drops, that’s where my attention will be and when Borderlands 4 and GTA 6 drop, I won’t be thinking about this game at all.
Finding out who a new hero is then and there is way better than knowing who they are for months ahead and you are basically just expecting them when they turn up
We already knew about juno and venture nearly a year ago so the last year has basically been a waiting room. Rather they not have shown them and so then when we do get the cool new digger dps it actually is impactful. The last 3 heroes have been underwhelming because we knew they were coming
That’s a theory, and ultimately what each person would prefer is subjective, but i think the game and characters feel underwhelming, because Blizzard is delivering an underwhelming product, iterating on a largely unchanged eight year old game, with small improvements arriving at a glacial pace
