I don’t see how this change benefits Mercy in anyway. It means that you can’t damage boost anyone that is actively using an ability and assist them. If Pharah ults and you then dmg boost to assist, then you do nothing. If Ash throws her dynamite and you then dmg boost, you do nothing. If Reinhardt Firestrikes and you then dmg boost You. Do. Nothing.
Predicting a teammates actions is insane. Adjusting to their actions is the proper and more valuable technique. If I’m already dmg boosting them then how would this change help me? If I’m doing 5 things at once and I see the Rein Firestrike then I boost him. I have to see it.
This change just nerfs Mercy because there won’t be a time that you would get more value out of boosting them before an action then after an action. I don’t understand how this is intended to help her.

When did they make a change like that?
It makes it more consistent. It’s only a net nerf when you cherry pick situations and don’t think about the times when you damage boost Ashe’s dynamite as it’s thrown and then can heal her for the rest of the time. It makes it a lot easier to damage boost people like Pharah since you can right click for when it’s fired and then back to healing and so on and so forth.

It’s on the PTR and was changed when they added Baptiste.
And I’m not cherry picking. The only characters it benefits is Ash and Pharah. That’s cherry picking.

this better not be the case. I sure hope if you Damage Boost her half way through her Ult, that the last half of her Ult is damaged boosted.
i approve of this
i also approve of this
Mercy must be allowed to damage boost Hanzo’s Ult. Whether mechanics make sense or not doesn’t matter. Consistency is what matters imho

No it’s not cherry picking because the same logic applies to any hero who fires projectiles, with that being a very long list, making it easier for Mercy to damage boost properly since she only needs to be in rhythm with the gun firing, not when it hits its target which is considerably more difficult.
But it doesn’t make it easier. That’s the point of the thread. Its makes it 10x harder to get value out of your teammates abilities.

Wait, I thought the damage boost applies when/if a it hits an enemy? They made it so you have to boost them all the way UNTIL it hits?
When it’s fired specifically.

No, you just have to boost when its shot, not when it lands. Its still only needing to boost for one moment.

Wasn’t one of you guy’s rallying cries “raise Mercy’s skill floor”?
Well, here you go, skill floor raised.

You can still do that with Pharah, though. Switch to damage boost right as her primary lands, then heal her for the rest of the time. Dynamite and Venom Mine are different, you don’t know exactly when they’re going to land but you have a visual cue before they’re activated.
With other abilities… You have to know what exactly the ally you’re damage boosting is about to do. You can’t always know. You have to predict just about every single ability, which does make things a lot worse for her.

A moment you have to completely predict which is ludicrous. I could understand if dmg boost did what both iterations could do. This just completely changes dmg boost’s value.

it makes it easier to coordinate when to damage boost though.
For example, when Pharah launches rockets, Mercy needs to try to time when the rocket lands. That makes it more difficult due to distance.
Now on the PTR, a Mercy can just watch the Pharah’s rocket timing and adjust accordingly without factoring in distance and TTL (time to land)
No it was raise the skill ceiling of which damage boost had a fine one with mastering of the timing to right when it would hit provided great benefit without interrupting healing
i could see this change as a dobule edged sword as I can see it being a good benfit as well. My only problem with this is it that it still makes zens discord despite being 5% weaker better in way more situations.
take more dmg from all sources is significantly better than than take an higher amount of dmg from only one source.
god I really hope they follow through on adding additonal effect of mercies dmg beam
It affects the individual missiles. Not the entire ult. So as soon as you start damage boosting her, the missiles fired from her ult while you’re boosting her will do more damage.
It affects all the abilities like so:
You damage boost Ashe. She sees that she’s being boost, so she throws her dynamite. As soon as she throws it you no longer have to boost her to amp that damage, meaning you can now heal her while the damage is being boosted.
You damage boost rein. He sees that he’s being damage boosted, so he throws out a fire strike. Once he throws out a firestrike, you no longer have to boost him for it to be amped, meaning you can heal while boosting his damage.
In every case (but especially with projectile heroes) YOU are the leader. You are the conductor. They follow your lead. Or rather, they should. You still can’t do much about unobservant teammates.

Do you even know what you’re saying? if the projectile gets the damage boost only when its fired you can boost someone and they fire a damage boost projectile then you can go to your Reinhardt for instance and boost his firestrike and keep moving around instead of holding the button waiting for the projectile to hit… if anything this is a buff not a nerf.
No. It was to raise her skill ceiling. Nerfing a hero isn’t really a great way to do this. What they wanted was new abilities that would raise her skill ceiling. Valkyrie is just her base kit, but even easier to use. Resurrect is extremely strong, and extremely easy to use.
No, but now you can only damage boost before a projectile is fired. If you damage boost it in the air now, it won’t boost the damage.
