I recommend playing Heat Street until you get something official, in apocalyptic difficulty it’s a challenge.

My personal opinion is that I’d rather them get the real PvE out a few weeks sooner rather than divert resources into yet another garbage archives mission.

Junkenstein at least had redeeming value in its style and god-tier narration. Archives has nothing but disappointment.

Um they announced a pvpe mode? Unless you don’t want to play that?

Anyways they said pve would be released in 2023. We got 8 potential months for the release.

I mean… yeah, but that isn’t PvE. Its PvP with really minor PvE elements.

I’m guessing free with battle pass or ten dollars a mission? I don’t know the story but I’m sure it’s something ridiculous and the shills are going to bat for them regardless

Yeah, that’s Starwatch. It has extra turrets and AI Doomfist.

(Also incidentally it might be testing for a future core game mode but we’ll see)

Why would anyone play PvE?

Is it gonna be like destiny with story campaigns?

Or like an eastern gatcha game with farmable skimpy skins?

If neither, why bother?

To be honest, to someone who doesn’t want to play PvE its difficult to explain why we want to play PvE, if that makes any sense.

Never played Destiny but it will have:

  • Story missions: Like the Archives missions but more built-up and fleshed out, they will tell a full linear story with cutscenes etc.
  • Hero missions: Highly replayable, randomised missions with progression systems like skill trees

They showed storyboards of the story missions in 2019 and 2020.

They showed cutscenes from the story missions in 2020.

They also showed a working hero mission select screen and parts of playable missions in 2020.

Another two years later, they delayed development of the PvE to crash develop a PvP update for the dual purpose of placating a declining playerbase and for installing new monetization.

In between 2020 and 2022, they hired Victor Wong, who had previously worked on transitioning Fortnite away from PvE content to PvP centric content. They’ve also stated in interviews that PvP is the main focus and that whatever PvE content is released will be “seasonal.”

The only reasonable assumption here is that they burned everything they had developed in 2020 and are trying to repurpose the story mode and the fragments of the hero mission system into Starwatch style content. You’ll eventually get a few new Junkenstein style events over the next few years, but that’s about it, unless whoever comes after Kotick makes a sharp U-turn.

Blizzconline was in 2021.

That’s one of the most unreasonable assumptions you could make actually.

They’ve already gone on record saying that they still have a full story campaign and a highly replayable mode (hero missions), with skill trees, equipment and all.

You seem to be one of many who fails to understand the term “EARLY ACCESS”. The devs are quoted multiple times as are the trailers stating that OW2 is in early access due to the numerous delays the pandemic and SA scandal caused and this was so we’d not have to go yet another year with no new content. PvE is coming still! Just relax! We’ve already seen bits and pieces of it and i don’t mean the stuff we saw in 2019. Remember the stuff they tested in experimental on some heroes? Or how about april fools 2023? Those could be part of the trees which allow you to customize your heroes abilities. They told us PvE is something we’d probably get in 2023. We’re only 3.5 months in so give them some time for god sakes!
