The Beta was a succes

“If it’s not fun, why bother?”

Tank q times with the removal of one tank still were longer then dps q times throughout the whole beta.

Q times for support would of been longer if they got a new hero as they should have.

Open q is good for role q. It moves the casuals to the find a match quickly q.

They weren’t for me. In the worst case scenario they were the same as dps.
Also I have already addressed why was that.
It is a bandaid solution that won’t last long after the game launches. I am pretty sure the devs also know that because they added open q to reduce dps times for that purpose

it was different since new. they have to one up the last beta in the next one so its all on them now

if the beta is the same somewhat and we dont have new maps/modes/heroes and features then i think it may fall flat

I believe that is the next beta event details announcement…but perhaps I misunderstood.

We will be back with more information on how to gain access to the next phase of Overwatch 2 testing and we’ll see you on June 16th!

To be honest, when they say it like that, it is either the beta is coming on June 16th or they are announcing new ways of getting into the Beta on June 16th.

They are reworking things, it was an early beta

Is this like the internet’s new favorite buzzword?

A post saying, “The beta went well!” is in no way a pattern of emotionally abusive behavior meant to convince someone that they are the problem while they are being abused.

Like… please, get some perspective, people.

They kind of are testing reception. They are staking the life of OWL on whether people like OW2

I think the fate of OWL has been sealed in the moment everyone picked the same 5 heroes. OW2 isn’t going to save OWL.

I think that’s obvious already with the unbelievably low number of viewers on what is supposed to be a “brand new” Blizzard game

But it’s not, it’s advertised as being played on a beta build.

They are not using new models for the existing characters.

They have not unlocked all the different day/night variations of the maps yet, I don’t even believe we’ve seen ALL the new maps (that I could be wrong on) like we haven’t seen the many new heroes supposedly coming, save for one.

They have not updated the music 100% yet and they have not updated the match voice announcer yet (if memory serves me correct, isn’t the new voice a male? Last reveal?)

All in all, OWL is being played on a beta build, without the changes implemented halfway through the public beta.

I believe that by the time this update comes to fruition to all platforms, live, we will indeed see something that looks and feels fresh.

They showing the core gameplay which means more than the night/day versions of maps lmao

Its not gonna change owl… People dont watch it because they lost interest into the league and probably game because blizzard decided to pull off a marketing stun on the shoulders of the community.

If team owners could get their money back there wouldnt be a single team left for this league.

Your points maybe are valid, I have no comment to them specifically. What definitely hasn’t happened though is those nuances havent been well communicated to the average viewer. The viewers expected a more polished product than they got.

Its too late now to say “oh well your expectations are not right because of X and Y reasons” - whether X or Y is valid or not doesn’t really matter anymore, the OWL started on OW2 and people didn’t like what they saw, period. Thats why you have 40K viewers on supposedly marquee matchups and no amount of justification now will push that number back up to anywhere close to where its supposed to be.

Like Houston vs SF getting around 50K TOTAL youtube views is horrible. Its supposed to ve fresh and new and different and yet people couldn’t care less.

I really shouldn’t say without….they obviously don’t want overly negative feedback….I mean when it comes to certain things they probably don’t care too much if it’s not received all too well….because some things they already know won’t be changing and we’re gonna get it whether we like it or not (like 5v5 for example)….OR….it’s something that they know is not where it needs to be yet or will be much different or more robust later on…it’s not a final product

Like the beta exists for many reasons…not just community feedback…so it could be more successful IN THEIR EYES than we think even if we don’t like certain things

That isn’t how it was for most of the beta duration. For the first couple of weeks queues were routinely over 10 minutes (saw peaks of 13 mins each at one point) for tanks and dps, but instant for supports when I played. They got much better towards the end of the beta after the second round of support changes were put in.

The fate of OWL was nearly sealed when all of the major sponsors backed out after the string of scandals last year. Last I heard around 3 weeks ago there weren’t any sponsors for this season. Maybe something has changed since then, but that is major problem for OWL. Even if people like OW2, Blizz has the problem that they are a toxic brand right now. Sponsors will avoid them since Blizz’s legal problems are far from over.

As for the beta, it was clearly given mixed reviews. Some players really like 5v5 since it fundamentally changes how the game plays to be more similar to other competitive FPS games. The people that don’t like most competitive FPS didn’t like the change to 5v5 because it fundamentally changed how the game is played. However, Blizz should have already known that was going to be the case and were ok with gambling with losing players.

Personally, I am in the latter group.

No one likes the beta except the paid streamers.

TF2 doesn’t have the EXCESSIVE levels of mobility that OW has though, they need to seriously tone down mobility if they want it to be TF2.

Agreed, its like they have removed core parts of the game that have been there since the day it launched, all to appease shooter try hards.

What? You’re telling me my experience is invalid? I liked the beta, now you’re trying to say it’s just because someone paid me for it?

Stop gaslighting me!

(I hope the sarcasm is evident here…)
