Just curious. I don’t recall any developers or any official pages clearly stating what the barriers are actually made out of.
I am open to more convincing materials that the barriers can be.

Maaaaaybe. Idk. Sym’s ult is called Photon Barrier and light is made out of photons I think…
Rein’s barrier is an “Energy Barrier” going by the F1 tooltip. Winston’s barrier is also a “protective energy dome”.
Zarya’s barrier is a “Particle Barrier”

Let’s examine them! They have the following traits:
- Fun colors
- Translucent
- Not very durable
- It’s makes a noise when you rip it apart
Therefore, I think barriers are made out of tissue paper

I have been trying to convey the idea that we need a shield support hero.
Symmetra fits the role.
Pulling energy from enemy shields while supporting friendly shields.
Maybe she will be reworked to do that in OW2.
Sym used to have a shield, but I guess the developers didn’t like it
