"The application encountered an unexpected error"

Every time I try to open BattleNet, I get an error. This has been happening since last night and I really don’t know what to do. I can’t even log in without it giving me this error!

This is my most recent Report ID from the errors, 7DA8D105-B7EA-4B81-9318-78A980C2390A.

Please, I need help in order to play Overwatch again!

Hey, PinkXi! This looks to be a Blizzard Application crash due to the AMD drivers. There’s currently a known issue that we’re tracking with drivers 19.12.2 and above.

There’s a few steps that may also help:

  • Disable the Hardware Acceleration:
    1. Right-click on the Battle.net desktop icon and select Properties
    2. Select the Shortcut tab
    3. In the Target field add the following command to the end:
      –disable-gpu
      It will look like so:
      "C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net Launcher.exe" --disable-gpu
      Note: There is a space between Battle.net Launcher.exe" and --disable-gpu
    4. Click Apply and then OK to close the Properties window
    5. Restart the Battle.net desktop app using this same icon.
  • Disable Radeon Chill

We have had one report confirm that rolling back the drivers to something other than 19.12.2 has helped. If it persists, try reverting to the 19.11.2 drivers. The DDU tool can be used to cleanly uninstall the drivers.
