The Anomaly of Hanzo

the size is more or less confirmed already, both by devs and by players in the workshop. the exact shape of the hitbox is not yet confirmed, but its believed to be a sphere.

i did a workshop just now where i crossed rein shields in a squareshape and trapped an arrow fired by hanzo within those squares by reducing projectile speed and gravity to 0 (making the fired arrow stand still mid-air). i wasnt really able to check the exact size cause im not picky enough to spend the time to do things properly, but it seems to be around 0.2m as some others have observed and it is very clear that the arrow hitbox is not as big as it looks.

i made a video showing the arrow sitting in air without hitting the barriers even though the arrow clearly looks long enough to hit them. the arrow hitbox is at the back of the arrow and not at the front as you would expect.
the front of the arrow is only visual and the arrow hitbox is smaller than the “cage” created by the barriers.

Because he just needs that one lucky arrow, whereas something like soldier will need to hit many, many bullets to do the same.

It’s very apparent especially when I play queue deathmatch that majority of them can barely shoot… but they will still win if you require 5 to 10 shots as opposed to their one or worst case scenario, two.

But it’s not like hanzo logs are more difficult to hit than the average bullet or hitscan fire. But the instant reward is there. Bonus points for Hanzo becoming Hanzo76 when you press storm arrow button, except each bullet doesn’t do a meager 20 damage.

Hanzo is akin to soldier76 not having a cooldown on helix rocket, except it can also crit.

Watch the video I posted of someone investigating Hanzo’s arrow. The arrow hitbox is literally a ball at the end of the arrow model.

Hanzo is literally a joke by developers just like how dexiduous was in Borderlands 2

I still rememeber first time i played Hanzo in ranked, i was GM . I had most dmg most kills, play of the game. If i knew how to share my play of the game i would. I still have it. My games where 10% skill and 90% luck.

you compare potatoes with cucumbers and it sounds a bit intentional. You “forget” two major common attributes of snipers in any fps. Insta-kill with body shots and uncharged shots.

  • Which dps is more vulnerable than widow in close combat?
  • Which hero is more immobile than widow while in scope?
  • Which hero has more distinct head hitbox than widow?
  • She has 10 bullets per clip. How much ammo should she have to categorise it as shallow?
  • Widow has more or less the same rate of fire as any other fps with the difference that she cannot kill with a body shot and OW has a faster pace than most of them.
  • Recoil was never there to balance snipers; it was for automatic weapons. So, let’s apply recoil to soldier, tracer, mccree, sombra and we see about widow.

Hanzo is a special case, because he has some attributes of a sniper like the one shot ability, but no scope and projectile.

The only reason snipers in Overwatch are a lot harder to balance than in other games is because of zero movement acceleration.

People seem to not understand just how broken having zero movement acceleration is and how it necessitates a lot of the BS that is in the game.

Yeah tell that to Soldier’s, Ana’s, Tracer’s Genji’s, Baby D.VA’s headhitbox while they also can crouch A-D spam.

Everyone is acting like clicking on heads is so easy… I’d like to see all of you “clicking on heads every 2 seconds”… Cuz I personally have to practice just my aim at least 1-1,5 hour every day to keep it sharp.

In all honesty, if you are having issues with Hanzo after the nerfs you are just bad at the game.

A fully charged widow shot has a higher ROF than many other snipers. And of course it doesnt need to be fully charged to one shot most of the roster

Sombra for starters. Widow’s SMG is actually better than Sombra’s primary

Halo has 4. Gears has 1. Halo also takes twice as long to reload and has flinch and recoil. The Gears one might as well be a musket

You can’t kill with a body shot in Halo, Unreal or Gears. Gears and Halo have other disadvantages to their snipers and Unreal is hilariously faster and had more complicated movement systems than Overwatch.

Every character in Unreal had Genji’s movement abilities + Hanzo’s lunge + wall interactions

And the sniper rifle in unreal has a much lower ROF than Widow

And only one shots characters on a headshot

Unless they picked up armor or health boosters
