I can go on massive win streaks and dominate my lobby over and over and I still barely get any progress towards getting out of this abyss of noobs, failures, and inept players. Then, if you get one tiny loss streak in Silver you’re dumped back in this mess. This is flawed and it’s proven by the new Stadium ranking system which feels WAY better.
Forgive me because I haven’t been in bronze since OW1, but: is it not roughly 5 wins to go up a rank like every other rank? You get roughly 20% increase in MMR per win, roughly a decrease of 20% MMR per loss, and if you win more than you lose, you rank up over time.
Is Bronze not like that? It has a win count requirement to get to silver?
Not really.
The MMR/SR is bigger than the other ranks (like it was in OW1 as well).
I think you gain/lose less each game.
If it were 5 wins I’d be long out of Silver. It’s more like 20+ wins or 15 maybe with a streak. And, this is difficult when the rank throws in people who have no clue and do not care.
It is and isnt, because we now see percentages gained / lost it muddies the waters.
You still gain / lose the same amount of ratings but bronze is a ‘bigger rank’ in “rating points” so to say, so in percentages you see smaller movement.
e.g. back in the day bronze was around 1500SR wide of rank, and the rest of ranks were 500 sr each. its still the same disparity. So if you gain 8% of rank in bronze, that would be 24% in other ranks.

Interesting, I had no idea. That would be really frustrating to get stuck in that.
Between gold and diamond it’s always felt really consistently the same rough 20-25% unless you go on a winning/losing trend.
Just go on high ground instead of running it down mid 24/7 and stay close to cover don’t run into the open like an headless chicken. You will be in gold in no time.
I’ve never seen a bronze player in game but some times i see silver players in qp games i get backfilled into. The positioning those guys have… lmao.
Yep i can see how it can be confusing/frustrating for people in bronze if they dont know why it behaves like that.
Maybe one day blizzard changes how it works for bronze, there’s probably little reason for that behaviour now with the ow2 changes.
