I think this particular patch is overrated. In Dec 2020 they buffed Rein and D.Va and in Jan 2021 they nerfed Ball and Sigma, which imo was a better state. But it wasn’t THAT bad. Better than the time with giga-barriers in late 2019. And then, of course, there’s fix forum icons

Can you explain how this patch killed ow1? When it was known to be one with a lot of hero choice and variety?

Yes. Starts today, end June 2.
It’s…it’s all role queue.
Every step of the way, they managed to make Classic the most miserable they could.
And yet it’s still better than Overwatch 2.
Yep… No ones realised these “OW Classic” events are meant to be a joke.
A “you think it is bad now, don’t you remember this rubbish” type joke.
It is what it used to be. I might actually go and play tank again.

5v5 is def better. Forgot how bad tank synergy is.
Blizzard should try approaching other aspects of game design as a joke so that the game improves.
Just do not play tank…it is pure pain and you will tilt

But yeah. They should stop pandering to skin buyers and just do mad stuff.
Game would run out of money and fall over in weeks, but what a few weeks it would be.

Disagree. I only play tank. Don’t tilt.
If the game goes badly, it goes badly.
The only players that ever confuse me enough are the ones that just tell people to swap… Not who to, just swap. Like, come on kid, at least have a plan, maybe they will listen to you then.

I used to love tanking in ow1. I played them for 6 years.
Zarya, hog, orisa and dva were my favourites.
I loved deleting squishies that went for my supports.
I imagine i’d only get angry because new players don’t know how to properly play the mode.
But then i’ll just play a few custom pve matches and calm down before going back.

Playing tank has always been painful for me…thus I main support
I moved to solely playing support in ow2 when tanking became hell.
But i still love tanking in oq or 6v6.
I love bubbling a mercy who everyone’s focusing down. Bubbling the doomfist so he doesn’t get deleted, then turn around and fry the tracer that tried to get my ana.
Javelining an ulting genji off my supports, exquisite.
Just matrixing over a slower support who all the enemies are focusing and then dash them off her ledge.
As a support main, being able to punish those horrible flankers is very cathartic.
It works in 6v6. The sups can focus on the tank and 2 dps holding the front and i keep the supports safe from everything that tries to get them.
But i hate solo tanking. Im not a main tank at heart, i play tank like a support, i help my team and enforce the space they take. I watch their backs and actively peel for anyone that needs help.
It’s a very support centric mentality, which is why i mainly played orisa, zarya and dva.
The problems will be if you get teammates who have never played ow1 and aren’t used to dying fast if you don’t position right.
