After losing 400 SR in the span of two days from absolutely ridiculous Comp Matches. Going up and down in SR constantly, and dropping into Silver during my current losing streak, until actual changes are made to the matchmaking system to avoid scenarios like the constant Triple DPS Hell that is the Low Elo Ranks, I quit Competitive and will probably not touch the game for an extremely long time, or just keep playing the new Co-Op event and then stop. Competitive is just a complete waste of time to play in itâs current state. Weather it be leavers, one-trick players, toxic teammates, tilters, etc. the actual chance of finding a really good match is extremely low, and just isnât worth the time losing hundreds of SR points just to finally get a decent match and then keep losing on from there.
Honestly, you just got to remember that this isnât a personal problem and it affects the other team just as often. I see a lot of people fail to consider or acknowledge when the other team has a bad comp or is tilting or has leavers or whatever else.
Make peace with the fact that people donât play the way the game is âsupposedâ to be played and make it work when you can. Because if anything team comps and tilting gets worse the higher you climb. But then again, some of the most fun matches Iâve been in had attack torbs and silly comps.
Honestly, that just makes it even worse. The fact that Blizzard has done absolutely nothing to help reconcile these problems over the course of a year and a half, just makes it seem like they donât really care about how the Competitive system works as a whole.
lol, keep telling yourself that.
The game will decide when it wants you to lose, and thereâs nothing you can do about that.
After going on a similar loss streak myself a week or so ago, I checked profiles after every game. Because something was fishy.
In every single loss, the game had stacked 4 or more players with positive win rates for the season against a team who had 4 or more players with negative win rates for the season.
It happened without fail. Every game in the entire 12 in a row that I lost. The enemy team either had a positive overall win rate with all heroes, or an extremely lopsided positive win rate with the heroes that they played.
Take a look for yourself the next time you lose a blowout.
You nor Blizzard canât make people play the way you want them to. Thatâs an awful precedent to set for a load of reasons.
Do you solo queue? 20char
So how do people climb if the game forces you to lose?
Yeah, and none of my friends play Overwatch either.
Theyâre better than their rank, and they carry.
That really doesnât make much sense, TBH. I just think that the community is in such a state that it just isnât worth playing such a team-dependent game.
So youâre saying youâre mad because youâre not climbing despite not being better than your Rank? Lol
Matchmaking needs a lot of work. A lot of work.
I said it twice just to emphasize the pointđ
Iâm not saying that at all. Quit putting words into my mouth.
Iâm saying that if you want to climb you have to be significantly better than the players youâre playing against.
If youâre not, you get stuck.
Tried 6 stacking?
- Leavers?: not intentional ones anyway if you have a good group
- OTPs?: They can even have a role in a 6 stack, or you can choose not to have them in your group
- Toxic Team-mates?: with a 6 stack you can allow only âniceâ people in your group
- Tilters? 6 stack solves it again! You choose who is in your group!
- Good games?: Most of them are good, you have fun with people you trust and work together as a team. You will still lose matches but you should have fun while doing it
- 100s of SR lost?: Well if this happens in a group, just practice more together, you will get there!
Really Try a 6 Stack! It is the way Overwatch was meant to be played
Thatâs the actual issue. People climb by being loner DPS players and not caring about the objective. I canât tell you how many clowns Iâve seen in higher ranks than mine make stupid decisions that you donât even see silver players make most of the time.
The game has this âforced 50% win rateâ thing in the system. I had an 80% win rate in season 8 just because people I got teamed up with didnât rush ahead of their tanks. They werenât amazing, just cared about their positions. They were genuinely fun matches for both teams.
The problem is that unless you are proficient at playing alone or you duo with someone else and just the two of you carry, you really donât climb. The game punishes everyone else, and because people know that, everyoneâs anti-team, pro-me. Thatâs one of the biggest reasons the queue has gone downhill since launch.
Thatâs the problem though, Matchmaking is in such a state that you can only ever do well in a pre-made team
Again, if youâre not better than your Rank, why should you climb? Iâm not understanding I guess.
You donât deserve to climb if you arenât better. Thatâs the point Iâm trying to make. Iâm not arguing against that.
Did you just use the word âteamâ. Isnât Overwatch a âteamâ game?
Yes they need better tooling for this, but why is this a surprise? I guarantee a 6 person team who practice together multiple times per week will win most matches against a random assortment of similarly skilled players.
Why is this a surprise?
Isnât the 50% win rate thing an indicator that the player is where theyâre meant to be at their current skill level?
