I use thanks whenever i get heals
Might as well remove crouching and text chat as well
I use it to thank people. I don’t remember seeing it as a way of toxicity.
I love when people thank me for healing them
The majority of the time I’ve seen it used, it’s used as for intended purpose.

only anecdotally, for you at your rank
statistically it’s more like the opposite
I do sometimes use thanks when I get mad for not being healed when I ask for healing and the healer/healers is/are exactly near me with no other target to heal(that is as low as me). But it’s just because it really annoys me.
But most of the times is just to thank for healing/rez/save.
I must be lucky then. People thank me so much that I changed my main quote as Mercy to “You’re welcome!”
Speak for yourself. I almost always see thanks used in the way it should be used. For heals, peels, or whatever else.
I pretty much only use it for it’s intended purpose but in TF2 oooh boy. It’s kind of expected to say thank you after you kill an enemy.
“Thank you for losing us the entire game!”
Niche feature.
I have literally never seen ‘‘Thanks’’ used in a toxic manner.
I say thanks when receiving heals, being assisted in a kill or being murdered.
I’ve never seen anyone use thanks in a toxic way. I always like it when I hack a health pack in a vital location for my team and my teammates say thanks. It’s nice to feel appreciated as Sombra, since usually it is the opposite
I use it whenever necessary. Being revived, healed, someone pulling off an amazing play, someone saving my life. I’ve seen it used in a toxic way a few times, but not often.
What are you talking about? I use “thanks” all the time, and it feels really good when I save someone’s life and they thank me for it!
I’ll say it when a teammate peeks or pauses for me to fly to them as Mercy, when someone peels for me, when I get some really clutch healing, when the team basically carries me through a point, after any good play… it’s such a nice option to be able to quickly tell your teammates that you appreciate what they do.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’ve had the sarcastic thankers too and it’s irritating, but toxic people will always find a way to be toxic. If they weren’t doing the sarcastic “thanks” in the comms wheel, they’d be manually spamming the text chat instead.
I see people using it sarcastically, but… very rarely. I see it more often as an actual thank you, like towards a healer or a shield user.
Ironically, some of the only instances I’ve seen “thanks” being used in a toxic manner is from my own teenaged siblings. Go figure
I use thanks during awkward silences. Doesn’t mean anything. I just feel like saying thanks. I’ll say it though if someone saves my life though.
Judging from the responses, I think your math is off. Maybe 90% for it’s purpose, 10% as toxic.
I use it for heals and being rez’d or protected.
I find it hilarious when someone spams ‘thanks’ in a sarcastic way.
Form my point of view, the game only needs 3 interactions.
The rest is useless imo.
