Thank you Team 4 For Overwatch Classic

This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard. I love old OW and having this be an option even for a limited time is awesome. If you could bring back OW classic as a permanent gamemode or game I’d play the heck out of it and I think many others would too! This shows you guys are listening to the communitty and really trying to deliver fun and great gameplay. As a player I’m grateful and excited for the future of the game and 6v6 as a whole. I love 2 Capture Point and old Mei and old Bastion. This is awesome and I know me and all my old pals are playing the heck out of this and would continue to log in and play constantly if this was permanent. The OW of around 2017 with max 2 in any role would be awesome as well. Perfect imo. Thank you guys for what will be some of the most fun weeks of my entire 2024!

I honestly cannot believe the mad lads actually did it. Very well done and I appreciate their efforts. They definitely deserve praise for this one.

I am so excited to play Overwatch (2016) again. I am going to play only this mode for 3 weeks straight.

Why would you praise them for bring back something that they killed in the first place.

I don’t make the habit of thanking someone for punching me in the face then offering to buy me a bandage.

5v5 has been so bad, even with FTP the player numbers keep dropping. This is just a bandage for the player bleed and to try and keep interest before Marvel Rivals releases.

Because they brought it back? It is not as if there is any world where they just refused to patch Overwatch and it stayed alive for eight years, fam.

It ain’t that serious.

So? Who cares. It’s a nice mode regardless.

I imagine if this classic mode gets very popular would be kind of a bad sign for OW2. I am glad they are doing this because it will probably be pretty fun to play old school OW.

We should applaud the wins and let the devs know the direction their community is happy with!

Because its not the same team that made these choices. The new team clearly cares and is trying to make the game enjoyable for their larger audience again. The team that scrapped OW1 wasn’t these guys at all so blaming them is stupid.

Also Marvel Rivals doesn’t interest me and many others. Most of my group that plays OW isn’t interested at all because frankly third person looks unfun. Its hyped because its marvel but I don’t actually see it taking off the same way OW did or taking a real large portion of current OW players. Especially if they keep up with changes that are making everyone excited!

It may not be good for current OW2 but it could be great for what OW2 becomes. IE: 6v6 or it could lead to OW classic similar to how people play WOW classic. Either way its exciting for players imo.

I didn’t say anything about patching, they bring it back because people want 6v6. That’s why they are trying it out later on.

If 5v5 was so great why would they be testing multiple 6v6 modes?

People like you have condition themselves to be grateful to scraps that the corporate overlords give the plebs.

Overwatch 2 only exists because Blizzard is greedy and even lootbox money wasn’t enough for them. So they gutted the game and fired most of the dev team.

Now they have some B team trying to stop the ship from sinking, after they sold the lifeboats

Oh, I guess I was just fixated on the launch update of Overwatch because I do not particularly care about the other updates. I will just use it as an excuse to abuse Doomfist.

To see if it is worth the effort to have both?

This is not a scrap. This is the original Overwatch. They did not have to do this to appease you weirdos. The 6v6 tests would have satiated you just fine.

No. That’s not really the lore.

And it is working.

I think 5v5 sucks personally. I don’t like it at all. That being said 5v5 221 comps can be alright in open que or QP hacked.

I think we’re just excited to see an update to a game we all enjoy. Looking too deep into it and frankly this is a chronically online response.

Now they have a team thats trying to recover and make the game enjoyable for a larger audience. Yes Blizzard is a company who’s goal is to make a profit. Yes they are increasing that profit by trying to increase players. Thats not wrong and yea I’m happy the current dev team is taking a different approach to that problem. The game had a rough patch of poor choices from a lot of angles but just hopping on the give up train is a lame way to spend time. They are doing something cool and seem to care. We should encourage that and voice positive feedback so that way the game direction can follow this way.

They increased their profits because they execs wanted to sell to Microsoft so they ramped up the monetization and slapped together a game that had less features, modes, maps, basically everything OW1 had and then now they are trying to back track and save a sinking ship.

I don’t give positive feedback to people who would rather cater to whales and sell $20 skins on top of season passes.

Defending a greedy company that gutted a beloved game to maximize profits is just bootlicking.

Are you going to play Overwatch Classic, though? I bet the answer is yes! You did not make a forum account just to complain 2 years later, surely!

Where did i say I would stop playing?

My point was and still is:

Being grateful/enthused about getting something back that was taken from the player base is deranged thinking.

God forbid a free game has monetization that isn’t pay to win at all. Also you can buy a battle pass every 2 of them for free with the battle pass rewards alone. You can literally get the premium pass ever other pass by just playing the game casually thats pretty generous for once again a free game with no pay to win or play mechanics.

I’m not defending a company; I’m defending the current Dev team who is clearly trying to make Overwatch a game that is enjoyable to the scale the old one was. They are trying and for that I thank them. Ship is far from sunk and there is plenty of time to get things right. Given the overwhelmingly positive community response from OW as well as just online gaming to the announcement your take is a very small minority and is delusionally negative about the situation.

20$ isn’t for whales lol. USD this is like the average persons hour of work which is fine for a free game.

Not defending Blizzard just bringing to light that I’m happy they are trying to bring back a game I love. I was high elo all roles in OW1 and even played with my local Esports team. These are good signs sorry you don’t see that or are too self-defeating to appreciate that.

Got him with that one lol

I don’t really see why you play now. You just complain and hate on the current game and the direction its going. If thats how you feel there are other awesome games out there and frankly the negativity you bring isn’t fair to your friends/allies you play with imo.

I was just asking. I had no idea you were still playing at all to be perfectly honest.

If you believe that is deranged, you should see how I actually play the game.

If this implies what I think it does. wow wow wee wah. 57 thousand posts and I guess you’re eventually gonna let something slip lol.

The cognitive dissonance in this thread is too much for me.

If you all want to defend bad business decisions that ruined dev’s lives when they had mass layoffs due to chasing the profit train for a sale to Microsoft, then go for it.

But you all truly delusional if you are happy that it has taken almost 3 years to get back to the state they were before OW2 launched.

Pure copium.

No. I am just happy I get to play the launch day patch again. You are reading way far into this…

I am not twirling my moustache elated with schadenfreude at the suffering of poor developers. I am, for once, congratulating them on a job well done! It’s usually hard to get this out of me and once I finally say thank you I get some hybrid between a dinosaur and a monkey criticizing my ethics. And people wonder why I am never grateful…

Bruh did you just learn that in 100 level PSYCH or something lol. You just insult and don’t actually bring anything of value to the conversation. Just a negative nancy who sees their feelings and thoughts as fact when they are just your opinion. womp womp.

I don’t defend it and never had. Nice try trying to bait something crazy out of me.

I didn’t play almost 6 years for that reason. The game was in a bad state. Its not like I sat around and did nothing lol. I moved on and came back recently because the current team is really trying and thats apparent. I’m just happy they are trying to make the game better.

Whats cope is defending your negative mindset and insulting others constantly to make yourself feel better. Womp womp.

Exactly. Bro is a meany.

Can’t deal with someone disagreeing with you?

Just resort to ad hominems.

My point is and always will be: The execs gutted OW1 to maximize profits for a sale, which had a massive negative impact to hundreds of dev’s lives. Nothing they do now will ever remove that blemish from the history of this game.

So yes I am pessimistic towards this game and I find people being enthused over being handed scraps to be deranged.

Will I keep playing, probably, but no where as much as I did before they lied to our faces about PvE, fired the whole PvE and art team and ratcheted up the not so microtransactions. But one thing is for sure, this game will never get another dollar out of me.

I also told my Wife she won’t be seeing me very much this week lol.

Projecting much aren’t we?

Do you not see how you saying something like that and then still playing is a bit odd. Why devote yourself to a game that represents that to yourself?

They get your time and your que count which is good enough. Weird way to fight the system you supposedly are so against lol.

This is true and I don’t disagree with you entirely. I just think the way you let it affect you and the way you moralize others choices around it is toxic and is a sign of mental illness. Now I beg the question. What does that have to do with the current dev team and the clearly pro-player choices they are making. Either move on or try to change your outlook on the game. I know I took a big break and it helped. Your mindset right now is stagnant for yourself and is terribly defeatist.
