The easy option here is remove the orange chat as soon as the match starts.
Reactivate at the end (or between rounds if you’re feeling nice)
Thats why we have mics ? Spending time to type is afking and giving a opponend 5v4 situation.

tell me one sport where teams are not allowed to talk to each other during games.
The problem is not with the text chat. The problem is with the people who are using it. But those toxic people are easily bannable so I don’t see why text chat is a real problem here.
YOU have a mic. Others feel more confident not talking in voice chat. Especially girls lmao.
Spending time to flame is bad no matter if is it’s in text chat or voice chat. Spending time to give callouts in chat takes literally 3 seconds. People who use text chat for its main purpose know when to write and what to write so they will never put you in an 5vs4 situation.
If overwatch had a live referee and actioned people on the spot… Fine. I’d agree.
But that would be ridiculous thing to implement. So just remove it. Save the hassle. You’ll have less reports to process, less people crying about being banned. It’s a win win.
The only people losing are those that want to call people out.
Keep blue chat, for the mic reason. Orange can go.
Okay, I agree. Then give us back the global chat so we can talk to each other after the game ends.
Soon as match or round ends, orange goes live against.
While match is active, no orange.
It’s a fair compromise. Maybe extend the time after the game before everyone leaves.
The white global chat can stay in the bin.
Yeah, 1% can do that, 99% just spend time to typing at middle of game which should not be allowed.
Imo between round and end of a game it’s fine, but causing a point lost or payload losing because of typing is something so…
