It was already hard enough to get people to communicate or even join voice chat. Now its all just Typing Timmys. Only thing theyll type is “wow i have 3 golds you all suck” and the similar crap we have all heard before. Now almost no one in my games uses their mics unless its a group i get qued with or the match ends and they plug it all in to tell us how much we suck.
Match chat is the worst and i have no idea or understanding what purpose chatting with the enemy in a competitive game is. QP, arcade, game browser its fine, but in competitive its pointless. Almost each time i lose, even in a close game they say dumb crap like “EZ” especially when they run cheesey strats as if its something to be proud of. I wish i was on pc instead of ps4, i know its still toxic there, but console toxicity is more childish and sophmore like.
Just last night, we got ROLLED HARD while defending SaltTown, i mean Junkertown. I was Baptiste, but our dps were reaper sombra, other healer was zen, tanks were zarya and ball facing against double barrier double hitscan double main heals.
No one was in voice so i typed “can we change our comp plz it clearly failed” and they all told me to “cease my existence” (censoring what they really said in case blizzard has an issue) and of course we couldnt even get a point.
Whatever happened to integrity and sportsmanship? Im 28 and players older act so immature. I know i have my toxic angry moments but id never tell someone to yoy know what themselves or use any racial or sexist slurs. I hope 1 person understands my point .
I already disabled match chat, tempted to mute team…but even muting both doesn’t fix anything. The other day i had a game that was winnable but our DVA was angry for reasons i dont remember and he kept typing instead of playing. Bless our other tank for playing their heart out in a close game that was almost 5v6 because of the afk typer…
If someone saying “EZ” to you in a video game is one of the worst things anyone has ever said to you then you must have lived a blessed life to this point. Wait until you step out into the real world
Yeah living in shelters watching your roommates in shelters OD on drugs not knowing if you have to move to a different part of the state again is truly a blessed life.
I have BPD and live paycheck to paycheck cant afford meds to keep me calm. So yeah im a bit more sensitive to things you normal folk can deal with. Whenever people like you go and tell me how EZ it was to beat me i feel ever more like a failure. Thanks for missing the point of the post
Honestly I’m considering just muting all text chat. 99% of the time it’s just people trash talking, raging, or being vulgar for the hell of it cos they either don’t care if they get banned or know Blizz won’t do anything about it (which, given none of my reports seem to have been actioned recently seems to suggest a certain lack of activity on Blizz’s end).
I mean… sometimes in can be fun. Had a game where both teams had someone with an ‘egg’ username on their team, and chat was just saying ‘EEGGGG’ or ‘may the best egg win’ and all that… asking for an egg 1v1. But yeah, if it gets to you I fully suggest muting text chat. I’m honestly surprised how toxic and childish so many players are.
I do too. You need to take a level of responsibility, though. You will never stop people from being toxic in chat or messages or wherever. Turn those features off, or develop a healthy coping mechanism.
I had messages off for a very long time. Eventually I enabled them again and just kinda acclimated myself to it. It made me less angry the more times I dealt with it successfully.
Your brain is trying to protect you from abandonment and pain, but you gotta thank it for protecting you, and work on reframing. These people don’t know you, And none of it is personal, they’re just venting frustrations.
That said, it’s not cool, and I’ve found that trolling them back is my new guilty pleasure. Send them voice messages of you screaming, tell them you like their mom, tell them they smell like a Denny’s dumpster. It’s fun.

On pc atleast its fast but on console you have weirdos getting close to kicked from the match just to let the enemy team know they’re totally not deadweight and that X teammate is bad

I always turn it off. My biggest issue is it takes too much time for most ppl to type. The amount of times a game was decided by someone taking 20 seconds to type is too much
