Hypothesis: Game rewards for playing a single role (as it makes it easier on the matchmaker to grade and put you in a team) perhaps even more so for a single character.
Reason for Experiment: Inability to rank up SR by flexing to most needed role despite excelling in said roles.
Experiment: 1 trick a character that you can do better on average than your current sr rank relatively.
Other: Perhaps it takes twice or thrice as long to rank up if you flex due to mmr needing to he accumulated in each role you flex as.
Efforts will be made to farm stats while still winning (I.E. convincing team I can solo heal, letting some die for resurrection numbers, dying as little as possible)
Chosen character: Mercy (As I was top 500 on xbox manning her well shaped butt)
Includes bonus of character not being OP (brig) so the “you ranked up because your 1 trick hero is broken” argument is nullified and void.
Progress sofar:
Day 1 - SR From 2200 to 2350
Day 2 - SR From 2350 to 2530
Day 3 - SR From 2530 to 2600
Day 4 - SR From 2600 to 2710
I have lost 1 game sofar.
I don’t know the mechanism behind this. On a solo queue account (before LFG), I dropped down into high silver flexing as healer or tank (I’m usually high gold to low plat on my main). It seems like most of my games I had bad teammates.
Then, I started one-tricking D.Va and climbed ~400 SR in just a few sessions. I seemed to be getting a much higher quality of teammate as well. Don’t know why, but it definitely seemed like a switch was flipped in the matchmaker somewhere. I obviously didn’t magically improve that much, that’s for sure.

My thoughts exactly today.
Used to flex main tank many times.
Suddenly I get an average of 2 carry smurfs on my team per game.
Like… we ran 4 dps no shield tank and it wasn’t even close. (Mainly due to carry widow named hashtagmetoo)
Funny thing was… we had a 5 star silver boarder whining the whole first half of the game about blah blah not a 2 2 2 comp blah blah no shield tank while I and the other no star bronze boarders were making fun of him. (I started out explaining everyone was on a hero they could get value out of but after 7 minutes of arrogant reeeeeeing I got in on it too, I’m only human.
But the experiment requires more than 1 day of testing so THE TEST GOES ON!
Hypothesis: 1 trick performs better than flex because puts more hours on hero and develops better strategies and learns to play around counters.
Game rewards people that do better than rank.
Is this a troll? If course a t500 mercy will carry with 90%+ wr, it’s not 1tricking it’s you.
Hell I’m sure you can go blaster only and finish with all DPS golds hard carrying lol
I’m playing with a controller, an inherent disadvantage.
