They had finally gone a long way to fix Overwatch making the fun heroes fun again, it was the the best it had been in years before this mid season patch which saw buffs to all the fun sucking heroes.
Please leave Sombra, Mei, Sym and other heroes that rely on debilitating the enemy as semi niche counterpicks. Overwatch was clearly at its best back before the decision to rework and buff them ruining the game, largely for tanks.
Many pros/streamers have been commenting how good season 9 had been while others that had quit have returned. I thought Overwatch had turned a corner back towards the good old days but here it regresses again and I think this time I’m finally giving it up for good. Many already have left, I guess I was late to realise the inevitibility that the team making decisions will forever fail to see what actually matters, fun.
In other words, you had fun because the characters you play were overpowered compared to other heroes. Pathetic.
Sym could of stayed dumpstered Im sorry but as a console player we just don’t like that hero, buttt shes still getting demolished anyways even on console so I guess it’s all good.
The only problem I have is that they didn’t buff Lifeweaver properly while buffing one of his counters HARD that being Mauga.
Oh and buffing Orisa like at all, and not nerfing Tracer.
Ill DEFINITELY take an actual Tracer nerf finally! Shes dominating everywhere Im surprised they didn’t address it.
Lol, what a Facebook level comment from Zekki.
Alright I’ll just say this outright. It’s better for fan favorite, high skill ceiling heroes to be better than the ones beloved by a small part of the community. Heroes like Genji, Ana, Rein, Lucio, Zen etc will always at least be viable since they’re fun to play as, against and with along with being very hard to master.
This is how it should be. Always. Think of them as the Magnum in Halo CE, the Shotgun in Doom: They’re the keystones of the game. The number of people that came to the game to OTP Mei, Sym and Torbj combined are ¼ of that of even Mccree. Make them viable- which most of them aren’t-, of course, but never anything outside that.
This is a competitive game, not a popularity contest. You really think you should win because more people play your hero?
The good old days had mei freezing you to death and sym with 6 turrets. Id give anything for them to come back .
Wonder if you’d be so dedicated to that idea if your hero was one of the ones people deemed “low-skill”
Most console players above metal ranks can aim so Sym isn’t a problem for them lol
Mercy, she is one of the most popular heroes in the game and in this season, the devs have her in a very bad state, bordering on dead.
Reading is fundamental.
Tho not sure if you were saying that as like a general statement or directed towards me? Within context if I said every single game? Wouldn’t that obviously include metal ranks?
Tho I’m masters.
Simply put, yes. Would you still play Halo if the Needler and Spiker were competitively viable? Would you still play TF2 is Sniper, Spy, Heavy and Pyro were properly balanced?
This is how the game has been run since forever, why do you think Tracer has been allowed to remain the best hero in the game save for GOATs and partially for Double Shield meta? Why do you think Ana never got her Anti-nade cut to 50%? Why do you think Mercy didn’t get a single buff this patch?
Which brings me to this. Do Not misunderstand what I’m saying, all heroes should be FUN. Fan-favorites that enable, require and promote the gameplay the majority craves should be the best. That’s not Just me saying it, just look at the way Blizz has been balancing heroes for OW’s lifespan. I’m just the first one to say it out loud. People worth a damn will still advocate for nerfs to their mains when they’re OP and vice versa, it’s pretty clear when people don’t care about other people’s fun and go against that.
Let me Reiterate that no hero should be broken or worthless(Cough Sym Cough) just because they’re either loved or hated, but at the same time there should be no reality in which niche heroes are star players in a Meta. Asking for them to be brought up to the aforementioned fan favorites level is sisyphean in nature, they will always either receive reworks to make them more like popular characters or small concessions here and there. And frankly, I’d rather that than a Pharah, Symm or Torb meta.
She’s popular as a character, not as a gameplay feature. Meaning that she’s iconic and well known, probably too beloved in some circles but nobody except the people she’s pocketing like playing with, against or as her (Save a community of dedicated Mercy players.) You either main Mercy or nothing and I bet a good chunk of players groan when they see her fluttering around despite her legit being more of an aid than an hinderance.
