Terrible netcode/tickrate problem

It’s just a shame that such a large company can’t provide servers with a normal tickrate. I’ve died so many times from random shots, although I successfully went into cover(on my screen), so many times I’ve died from widow shots, although I was crouching, but on replay it shows that I was just standing like an idiot. So many times, playing Baptiste, my lamp didn’t throw, although I pressed the button and saw how it flew, but on the replay there was NOTHING.
There are many situations in which the blame for my death lies not with me, but with the terrible game servers, with a trillion-second delay, which do not take how you crouch or pass some abilities. What kind of competitive spirit can we talk about when the game is not able to correctly transmit your actions to the server without huge delays for such a fast game?

My ping is on average 70-100, which is absolutely normal, allowing me not to feel the delay, if these were normal servers.

I feel you but your 70-100 delay + some one elses 70-100 delay can be like a quarter of a second and can make all the difference between your head being in line with a widow shot and not being in line with the shot…
With that said tho I also experience this a couple times a day where on your screen even if only for a few frames you see yourself successfully take cover only for your character to ragdoll over dead - then the kill screen shows you clearly getting pinged in the head.

OW does favor the shooter (from what I’ve been told on these forums - I don’t have a real source for that info tho) and I do remember them adding a feature during some tournament for custom game modes that ‘normalizes’ or equalizes the ping in some way by setting a minimum delay of your choosing I think around 100ms and IDK if they use that in normal play to help at all but that’s all i know there…

What IS the tick rate of OW since you’re mentioning it? I’m curious - I would have thought its like 1k/s or something crazy because the game can accept polling rates of 1k right? Or is that all different?

They don’t provide any servers. Google do. Go tell them about it.

The game has a 64 tick rate…well approximately 64 anyway. It’s okay, not ideal but ok. Bigger problem is they’ve not yet migrated away from Google servers which are cheaper…for a reason. They’re just not the best but they are satisfactory for Blizzard. Right now I don’t think they’ll improve infrastructure until Overwatch 2 is massively profitable, or they’d run the risk of burning money for not a lot of return.

they said they had 100 million players or that “argument” doesn’t work anymore when it comes to do real things.

I don’t want to sound pedantic but they said 100 million accounts were made from OW1 release to present day (well a few months ago) that installed and launched the game at least once. That’s not 100 million players, just 100 million accounts made during the lifetime of the game. I have more than one account, I know several people that have more than one account…millions of accounts have been banned for cheating or other stuff over the years… you do the math.

Companies like to tout the biggest number they can come up with but what matters more is how many players are active monthly, weekly, and how many stick with the game for more than a few weeks or months. We won’t get those numbers because they’re never as big so trying to brag about them isn’t going to do these companies any favors.

OW is a niche game, it got a bit bigger when it went free to play but the community has gotten worse and Blizzard hasn’t made as much money as they could have because they don’t really understand the free to play model as well as they like to believe.

Is so evident that sometimes u can hit when crosshair is out of the enemy model

LOL, and who bought the service from Google?

Twitter. A lot of companies honestly.

I mean that Blizzard bought service from Google so is ever on Blizzard responsability

By that method, you bought/installed the service so it’s on you not blizzard.

What?? If blizzard depends and pay for bad services this is blizzard’s fault.

You paid for a game you think is performing bad. So it is your fault.

They actually migrated to the Google servers last year when they changed host. We’ve been downgraded to crappier servers.

I dont think its crappy servers… its something else cause fps drops and no regs really only hit me when im on a winstreak. It feels like the game predetermines who will get priority on the ticks. Reminds me of the two tiered stuff net neutrality was trying to stop for isp providers but gamified.

game: JEZHZ1

shotgun torb on rien at 5:48-5:50

Had no issue dealing shotgun damage on reaper but on rien it felt as if the game was pushing me away from him and then i had a body shot behind him and I can only assume it thought i hit the shield infront of him before my death… Like this game priorities certain events to dictate even games when the mmr is not even…
