Terrible Matchmaking

Matchmaking is SO TERRIBLE that the same issue is being raised on other servers(Asia, EU etc). Why do we have to be stressed out by terrible matchmaking? I’m too tired of Losing or winning games overwhelmingly.

People who think the matchmaking is bad either don’t understand how it works or aren’t playing the right mode for what they’re expecting.

Hey, could you tell me if these are the kinds of matches I should be expecting from any Overwatch mode?

Please enlighten us as to how it works? The Devs certainly don’t have an clue as to how it works either.

They’ve done multiple in-depth blog posts about it if you’re actually interested. The only problem is that they were posted for a player base that won’t read.

Are you sure it’s not that they say something, and it just doesn’t match the reality that players are experiencing?

Let me fix that for you, they did multiple in-depth word salad blogs. They don’t know what the heck they are doing. If they did there wouldn’t be 95% of matches being 1 sided.

Or is the player base that SMALL that they throw 10 players from any skill level just to make matches???

To be honest, building a proper matchmaking system requires developers with a bit more intelligence. I do want to acknowledge that they are working hard in their own way, but at the same time, everyone has their limits in terms of ability.

I’m actually glad you posted this, because this is an example of the popular misconception that good matchmaking equals close matches, and that is just not how this game works. You could play in a match with 9 clones of yourself and still frequently see one-sided matches. The scoreboard has zero to do with matchmaking quality.

We’re just saying things now, I see.

I don’t expect every game to be 99-99 on map 3 with an overtime fight that lasts 4 hours, I just expect that when I get put against another team, it isn’t immediately a one-sided struggle for one side, while the other side expends zero ults to keep them in spawn.

Any matches I’ve won over the last few days have been terribly difficult to win or incredibly easy to lose, and I’m growing so beyond sick of it.

Yeah, you should definitely listen to people who make money with everything they can, including the MM. Yeah, man.

If it’s QP expect it to be fairly random.

If it’s comp it’s not the matchmakers faults that players are INCREDIBLY inconsistent.

Thats why Game can always climb from bronze to GM, very good players AND CONSISTENT.

Bronze to masters is a dice roll as to how each player is going to individually perform but the rank meaning there is at least a base skill and understanding present.

The sooner you stop blaming the match maker for losing the sooner you will not only figure out how to climb, but you’ll also stop being a child that acts like a victim.

I can consistently make a new account and climb to my actual rank because of this and I don’t climb much beyond it because I actually have to get better

No blaming

All accountability

Eff victim olympics

But don’t worry the vast majority of the forum users will echo chamber your delusion if you don’t want to face reality

The choice is yours

Good matchmaking makes more money. That’s why we have it.

I think match making is just bad with 5v5. 6v6 all roles is pretty good so far. Even so, I think if blizzard wants 5v5 to work. They NEED to fix match making lol

You are wrong on this point, they know exactly what they are doing. And they are the only ones who have to know how it works. Every matchmaking is the secret recipe of the devs. They can talk about it but yeah that will never be more than “in-depth word salad blogs”.

Bad devs didn’t make a good matchmaker mate.

There is always one like yourself; defending the devs to death as if they are perfect in everything they do. We fully understand how it works, which is why we dont get why its so terrible and why the devs refuse to put any effort into fixing an obvious problem with one of their flagship games.

But please, tell us, all knowing one; how does Overwatch’s Match Maker work?

I’m not defending anyone, just trying to help people help themselves so they don’t wreck my game with their unfounded complaints. That’s how we lost 2CP, so I have to speak up when people blame things for their own problems.

I’m not going to rewrite pages of blog posts for you. Matchmaking works for me because I know what I’m doing. I played about 15 matches and hit GM 3 today while working on my drive. Not one of them were bad matches. That’s what happens when you have a lobby full of people who know what they’re doing, and we’re in the same system as you.

remember to buy lots of skins, ok?

Lucky you. I just played my first game after coming off for a week, and I had three beginner players, new accounts, on my team that had no idea what they were doing, and the matchmaker was expecting me and the other experienced person to carry the game because our teams average with the two of us was the same as the other teams average. Because that’s how the matchmaker works.

I’m glad it works for you so well though. That must be nice. Unfortunately, that is not the experience of many, which is why there are 5+ posts a day about the MM being terrible.
