After the Season 13 mid-season patch, (When 6vs6 first dropped, if I remember correctly, so they probably changed the engine.) I started having terrible fps drops.
It drops to 30-40fps (Jumping, not steady.) and stays like that for 5-10 seconds.
It happens several times during a Match.
After starting the game, the first 1-2 Match is almost okay, no big drops happen but over time it gets worse.
I reinstalled the OS, but it didn’t help, nothing really helps that helped before, everything is up-to-date.
I really don’t know what to do… Today’s patch didn’t helped too.
Thanks! I have a little hope, that a Dev maybe sees this, and somehow identify the issue.
Things I tried so far: (Will update the list.)
Running the game as admin. (Both exe.)
Disabled DXNavi.
Disabled Game mode.
Disabled Full screen optimization. (Both exe.)
Closing not needed background apps.
Adding the game to the Windows defender exception list.
Adding the game to the exploit protection exception list.
Disabled overlays.
Setting high performance for the game in graphics performance preferences (Both exe.)
Disabled AMD ULPS
Disabled MPO
Disabled HAGS
I have no problem with other games. Temperatures are fine. (Like Deep RocK Galactic.)
SOLUTION: Disable Core Parking. If you are using it, or if it’s on for some reason. Looks like Overwatch doesn’t like it, or it’s a Windows thing, who knows… If you want to use it, change it to park less cores.
I had a similar stuttering problem recently after a Windows update and the patch. I noticed that a few of my system settings had been reset (like it went from performance to balanced setting), so I’m thinking it was the Windows update that caused the problem, but I’m not a techie so I don’t really know. (I’ve been playing OW almost since the beginning and never had a problem.) You might check your Windows settings or if your computer has a dedicated gaming app, check that. Or if you also had a recent Windows update, you could try uninstalling it or restore to a previous time when you didn’t have the problem.
I was getting frame drops from 240 down to 30-60 in game, which was unplayable. I have a Lenovo, and the Lenovo app has a toggle for “adaptive refresh rate.” I don’t know if that was on before the update, but it was off when I checked it. So I toggled it on, and it fixed the stuttering problem. So maybe look for something like that in your settings.
