Yo, just got the game and was greeted with an abnormally low frame rate. And yeah, I’m aware that my PC is nothing special:
Intel Core i5-3330
8 GB RAM
Some kinda Intel Integrated Graphics
Windows 8 x64
In game I have all video settings as low as possible except for resolution (which is still lower than my monitor) and I get around 40 FPS max, usually closer to 25. In most games I can bring the settings down and get 100+ FPS at all times, so I really don’t think it’s a hardware speed issue, especially with how well optimized I’ve heard Overwatch to be. There’s also some significant input lag, which feels like around 0.5 seconds. I don’t know whether it’s a byproduct of the low FPS or not, but it’s unusual nonetheless.
So far I’ve tried changing FPS caps, window/full screen modes, buffer settings, render percentage, deleting settings file, changing Windows priority, and probably some other stuff that I can’t think of right now. Not sure what the problem is.
Also, low FPS and input lag are typical symptoms of Vsync, and I haven’t noticed any screen tearing at all. Makes me think that maybe Vsync is on somehow even though I don’t have it turned on in settings? But it could be anything so I’m not sure.
Thanks!

This is a type of game were it really benefits from using a dedicated GPU, i wouldn’t expect anything special FPS wise from an Intel HD Integrated graphics, I’ve personally tested the HD 530 on my CPU (6700k) and noticed the game would get weird lag spikes on 1080p even though my frame rate was quiet high on the lowest settings due to a rop bottleneck. Since you have a desktop i wouldn’t be against the idea of you perhaps picking up a low end gpu they perform really amazing quiet amazing compared to an integrated intel GPU, were talking about upwards of 200-300% Faster without even having to upgrade your power supply.
Yeah, I agree, and I would totally get a GPU if I had the cash to sink on it, but I really don’t think that’s the problem anyway. Like I said, I have no trouble running any other games, and I know people with worse computers than mine who get better performance in Overwatch than I do. I mean, no matter what settings I use I can barely push past 30 FPS, even in menus? That just doesn’t seem right, and there’s no way I’m calling that playable either. I guess there’s a possibility that it’s just that slow, but idk. Seems weird to me. Thanks for the recommendation anyway.
you can try this fix and see if it helps :
This game currently has an issue with computers “System Hardware Timers” and Prioritizes use of HPET (High Precision event timer) which is a compatibility timer over RTC (Real Time Clock with a battery inside your pc) and your CPU’s TSC (Time Stamp Clock) The Problem is with HPET is it runs absolutely horrible with this game for some strange reason and is meant for keeping more accurate time in case any of those other functions fail such as on server use this fixed all the issues i was having i hope it fixes yours.
in order to fix this issue try :
In WINDOWS run this command as admin and restart your computer go straight into bios and disable HPET , This Command will delete high precision event timer from launching on start up by disabling it from the Boot Configuration Data (Windows). This will force windows to run on TSC and RTC as windows uses all 3 timers (4 if windows 10). for some strange reason the game or windows picks HPET as the primary timer which is what causes this issue.
WINDOWS KEY + R
bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock
The Opposite of this command is :
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
So if this fails to fix the issue go ahead and run the /set command then restart the computer go into bios and reset it back on, that way you have a way to start out normal.
Steps in case you get lost:
Disable HPET Priority in Windows
Restart
Go Into BIOS
Disable HPET IN BIOS.
Save and restart.
Launch game and enjoy :]
Does iy fix my SIM? Cause my sim is around 5.9 but the third value always spiking to 10 or above, which makes my mouse floaty
It can help with sim, i would recommend disabling windows “mouse smoothing” which actually just introduces acceleration to the mouse.
Dude i really need ur help, my sim always spiking everytime something appear on killfeed, and the way to fix it is to disable it
My spike from 6.2 capped at 155, to around 8 or 10, making my mouse floaty or unresponsive
